Each poly is made up from several triangles, depending on the amount of vertices for each poly.

But, as I said, those numbers are old and could be pushed a fair bit. E.g. the recommended tri limit for assault rifles is around 3000-3500, but some of the PR ones (like the M4 + ACOG + M203) are almost twice that. For tanks, I've seen examples with 8000 tris, even though the guide says 6000. Just go on and make the model, then you can make any necessary changes later.

Last I heard was the Scimitar being the highest lod'ed vehicle at 10K or 12K tris.

I'd aim for 10K though.. Like KP mentioned - the handheld weapons are getting detailed pretty good now and I've heard about lod0 1p meshes being nearly 9K.. so if a handheld weapon can have that - level of detail of around 10K for a vehicle of this size should only be fair..

Sure take all the time you need, its not THAT high on our list YET.

We are focussing on infantry first but as soon as those are all done we need more vehicles.

Updated render. Have started working on the turret, most other things on the body are finished, but need some finalizing og optimization. As of now the turret is quite crude, but the general shape is correct. Model is now sitting at 7880 tris :)
