guys guys guys!
As a Squad leader, you are a god! And the squad must follow you like you are their god.
I micromanage alot, i someone is firering burst in the wrong situation, i ask them to switch it, but most people do that automaticly.
But if people join my squad, and just keep whining, then goodbye, you are being kicked. I like having fun, but your not making my day.
But as far as i remember, ive never seen anyone starting to bash me, nor whine alot, usually its just something small that can be sorted out quick.
So when i play, people act up, and i have fun with them. And i think also they have fun with me.
I usually tell each specific member of the team what kit to take. And if they have a problem i just switch it with another member. Is that micormanaging?
As a squadmember, i tend to follow the squadleader, not get hang up in small details like an enemy, all i do is call the contact, and fire if fired upon or orderd to do that. I take this game very serious, cause if i want that special feeling of teamwork, i need to take it serious.
But also sometimes i just wanna have fun, and mess around, then i go to the training servers
So people, if anything be forgiving, and give people a second chance if they blow their first one, and SL remember, you are responsible for your SM lives, if they are lost, its on your shoulders.
Wiccede Wicca out!

I think most of boils down to common courtesy. I try to phrase orders as requests when squad leading, but I still want what I've asked to happen. Just don't ask what you wouldn't happily do yourself if the roles were reversed.
I don't really like being 'told' what to do, 'GO THERE!' 'DO THIS!', it's just plain rude...it's not the actual army! However, often I'll give SL's who appear rude the benefit of the doubt, maybe my language (English) isn't their first language and it can be dificult to get the right phrases, maybe they just got a but excited. There's nothing worse than being barked at by some little kid though, and I find a hearty dose of piss taking usually calms them down.
Naykon - great round on Ramiel last night mate, those .50 cal technicals are proper lethal!

Give your squad the responsibility to work this stuff out for themselves. And just laugh when it all goes tits up! I just hope i wasn't guilty of this last night when was your SL Naykon!
Not at all mate, the majority of SL's like yourself do a really great job!
this was a minor incident later on on a different server, but it made me want to post, just to let any new guys know that the majority of squad play in PR is very fun and enjoyable, but there are a select few who seem to love criticising every aspect of the squad they are playing with, even when they're following orders..

If you join a squad in PR, you have to accept the SL will most likely give you orders. If you can't stand this open your own squad and do it your way.
Anyway, I don't like the dictator style myself, but if you don't listen to me, screw around or you're a useless wanker you can seek yourself a new squad faster than you can say : "Wait, what?"

Yeah, by the time you get back from the 30+ second spawn penalty for commiting suicide, your whole squad is going to be dead...
Here's one story I read on these forums that got to me:
Last week i'm on Fool's road as Militant, All 6 of us are pinned down by an apc, While i'm the only one with explosives, everyone is pushing me to be the hero, and go take care of the apc. I'm telling them no we only have 20 tickets left, they've got 8. Let's wait it out. So my damn SL kicks me from squad, and I proceed to be kicked a minute later for being squadless! And guess what? Militia lost!
^ Now that's just sounds stupid. The SL is pretty much asking him to commit suicide to destroy the APC... Probably mob mentality too, all the squad members were probably yelling at him to destroy the APC, and not one other squad member spoke up to say to just wait it out.

Unfortunately that is the quickest way to get communications across, so it kinda has to be that way, and I am probably guilty of that as much as anyone.
I actually like being micro-managed, but only by a SL that knows what he is doing. Likewise I have no problem with orders being barked at me or being told what to do or what kit to get. However, I DO get angry when I get orders screamed at me by an idiot. And, because our hypothetical Mini-Hitler is inevitably rubbish at leading, we are always losing, which makes him even more angry and he has to shout even louder.....heheh

yea, when ur an SL you have to talk to the commander, manage a whole squad and you might also be (as I often am) talking to other squad leaders on teamspeak. Using very short sentences helps manage comms traffic, and it also useful since I'd rather be concentrating on my surroundings than my manners....i.e. rather be alive and winning than dead and courteous.

Good thing that when I'm losing, I become more and more apathetic as opposed to more and more angry and yelling. I can see that some SLs might not be that way, and might choose to act out on their squadmembers when feces hit the fan. Fortunately, I hadn't had that happen too often. Most of the time, the SL is more inept than draconian.
Personally, I do tend to micromanage in some situations, but not excessively. As the SL, I feel responsibility for the entire squad (so I feel like it's my fault if we mess up an attack), and so I try to keep my squad alive and winning. I tell my squad when I want them to stop shooting and come flank with me (people get really distracted when unloading on enemy, and breaking contact is generally unheard of), or that I need one of them to go medic. SL is SL after all, and not just another dude in the squad. I do dislike excessive micromanagement, especially by blind SLs who don't have the grasp of the entire situation (like the kind of SL who doesn't realize that his medic is busy reviving his two squadmates and asks the medic to grab a LAT to take out an APC).

i think PR will end up being a "clan" game, that i think is good, because when i play on a server with random people i get bored realy fast , but when i play with my clan with TS and stuff, i can play many hours in a row because its so fucking! funny/entertaining when playing with clan/friends

It's annoying if you're and SL and have some one like that in you're squad...

I can see that most of you will be glad you've never been in one of my squads. I'm a very rage-y kind of person, but since no one else generally steps up to the plate I am typically a squad leader in game. I take the role pretty [probably too] seriously and if people step out of line they get a courteous warning, and about 30 seconds to fall back in line or they get kicked.
I honestly can't be bothered to micromanage people... if they're not intelligent enough to figure out the best way to do XYZ (or ask for my orders) then they're getting dropped from the squad. It might seem harsh but oddly enough I never have issues filling up my squads, so perhaps angry leadership is better than bad leadership

Marm! Be quiet... You take it a serious as me.
Squadleaders who knows what he is doing, and still gives straight orders. Do this do that, they should be allowed to yell at people if they dont follow orders.
What is this discussion about? The rights of the SM? Or SL?
Well SM's has no rights in my squads... Just follow orders. Thats it.

Whenever I lead a squad, I leave the kit decisions to the member, and give generalized orders. Most often, I play with my fellow TF21 members, and can count on them to get the job done.
Micromanaging a squad in a game seems fairly pointless to me. Many people who play play for fun, and yelling at them for X reason is a waste of time.
This isn't the real military, it's a game. If you want to bark orders at people, why not join your country's military, move up the ranks, and do so (that's what I did). But I don't think attempting to be a hard-*** over the internet is called for in PR.

yes i could just leave the squad/server, but to be fair, it doesn't give any new guys a good impression of what it's like to learn the values of teamwork in PR whilst being treated like a misbehaved child, i've noticed this more often recently, which is why i felt the need to post
I think people just forget that we play for fun sometimes..
needless to say, I could only take so much tonight and a guy was TK'd for his comments...
yes i could have committed suicide and got another AT kit and shot that tank for you...
but after your 5 minute rant about it, i'd much rather stay alive, stab you in the head, steal your ammo, and listen to you whine for 10mins and then quit the server..
I agree, this isn't real life. It's the only reason as to why when I play, I fool around a bit, when I lead a squad, try to keep it humorous.

Stay on Topic if you please MR. Rapier.
Anyway, the only way to play PR is to work togheter as a team, and for a team to work, there needs to be one leader, who makes decisions. There is also possibility for SM to make Decisions, but not in the heat of battle.
So if you wanna play PR correctly, follow SL orders. Or your gaming experience will be lacking.
I also think that people practising formations and specific tactics with pubbers should be thanked for their effort.
I hope to see the players of PR to mature, in what i mean with that is that it is easier to enjoy the game, easier to have fun.
Like the devs say, players are hardcoded, but with a little patience, you can change everybody...
