if so many of you think that v0.8 is such a bad version, there is nothing stopping you guys installing v0.75 and playing that?

Normally i don't respond to people complaining but i can't resist anymore, this release is by FAR the best release to date.

-The fire fights are epic.

-The tactical necessity is by far beyond what it was before, it actually pays of to use RL tactics now.

-The new maps are awesome.

I've been playing since .4 and never in any release have i had so many rounds of good teamplay, since .8 it's more a rarity to have a bad round then a good one.

Been playing since 0.5 here and PR has only gotten better and better with every release.
Sure there are a few problems with 0.8, but 95% of these are your own personal problems that you just haven't ironed out yet. Over time you adjust to it and you end up thinking (much like with deviation from .6 to .7) that hang on, that thing I thought was a problem is actually a good thing...

LOL. I've been playing since 0.5 and following the thread patterns, I was wondering when a thread like this would pop up. People have been shouting 0.6, 0.7 0.75 etc. is going to kill off PR but PR is still going strong. The releases aren't perfect, ( that's why it's 0.8 ) but they are getting there.

Is PB annoying? Yes, but IIRC the solution to this problem has been found in the bug forums.
Is Gamespy choke up agitating? Of course, but during that time the server population was not impacted much as there was the server list website.

All in all, with every release, some people leave but more people join. Personally, I've seen more American servers come online w/ 0.8 than previous releases and the EU servers haven't lost their luster.

I agree in a way also. I still play and have a decent time, but it isn't nearly as fun as it used to be and that's the consensus of a lot of people I talk to.

In my opinion a lot of the people who are raving about it are the ones who are now able to sit back hundreds of meters away smoking people with the APCs. (everyone knows why) They're getting their 75 kills to 2 deaths every game and love it. I guess if you are into that then it would be fun.

I used to brag about this game all the time to people when I would find out that they were in to gaming. I don't anymore.

It's not that 0.8 is worse that people leave. Sure, people leave after every release partly due to changes but also due to falling into new games, moving to consoles or limiting their gaming totally as more real life things come up as they get older. As Rhino said there are more people then ever. If the regular crew is not really into the game anymore but you are try to get with a new group of people. Exchanging xfires at the end of the round after meeting some good pubbies really helps.

[R-DEV]Rhino wrote:funny that v0.8 is by far the most popular version with a peak of 1.5k players on after release and since then 500 players average constantly playing PR over the past 3 or so months? PR is only stronger with the new release going by thous stats :)
no no no Rhino I don't think you under there's four of this guys friends who have stopped playing entirely... I mean four

A touch of seriousness for a moment, there was a peak a few weeks ago I believe whereby PR had more players on than the Official Expansion packs.... Now that's ALL the expansion packs added together

0.8 is epic and needs oodles of teamwork to be effective
Our server (tactics and teamwork) transformed in 0.75 and now in 0.8 we have the most players we've ever had, so much so we now have THREE servers

I'm seeing the same amount of servers on the list as I always have, sure some have vanished but there are new ones that have popped up in their place

To the Punkbuster issue brought up earlier..I can't agree more..My friend and I are always playing PR,but PB makes it hard just to get in a sever now sometimes...But we usually get it around it,annoying as hell though...

:\

Also,I don't doubt at all PR has more players than ALL of the BF2 Expansions packs...No one seems to play them at all..The only one really played anymore is SF..

don't need all the packs to know how people are on the servers

And still impressive that this free mod has more players than all offical packs put together

It hasn't killed it, but compared to all older versions the gameplay sucks. Maps are amazing and the only reason several .5ers including me play the little they do.
You guys preach on about teamwork overcoming everything, but the truth is, TW can't make me have more sprint, shoot more accurately, give your engi kit explosives again, or make vehicles spawn faster.

I don't understand why people come in here after every new version and complain about how the changes mean everyone isn't playing anymore.

If you don't like it, stop playing.

I hate to say it this way, but no one cares. It's the truth; the people who are actually involved, in terms of making models/animations/maps/designing the mod in general are going to make it the way they want. You're not required to stay, and I don't understand what you could possibly expect if you're not going to contribute.

To me, this just sounds like whining. But maybe I'm missing some important attribute.

agreed, threads like this don't do any good. I notice that the OP has posted in certain feedback threads, and that should be enough
