well you just said it was a mem hog, I've found it to really screw things up ie, mess around with .con files etc in a really bad way when you load 2 maps without a restart

oh i see... hehe... yeah actually...i remember having some odd stuff happen way back when i was a nub (whino is still a nub as you can see)

Yeah happens allot to me, if it does do that
DO NOT SAVE! It will corrupt the file. Daily backup. Thats the best advice I have for mappers.

piff, I haven't loaded 2 maps in a row for like over a year, maybe 2 now

thats what applying the spline does...it conforms the ground to your spline..to make it fit the road (in theory) you will have to smooth all road areas again after aplying the spline...it kinda works...but kinda doesnt//

simple solution, do not use the apply spline tool if it dose not work.... level out your terrain by hand...
there are many tools in the editor that do not work or that cause problems, simple solution to all is to avoid them and work around them, its not that hard epically in this case where you will in fact get a overall better result from just doing it by hand.
