I like both but it is way easier when you have a laser guided rocket.

Cannon and unguided rockets. A10 = Cannon win. SU-25 = OMG The awesome best thing ever 128 rockets!

I like laser guided munitions also, but since I should be able to fire them myself, I don´t like them. Also, I never really get to use them. For the same reason supertimo said.

it really depends on the team, on a PR round, guided is always safer and easier for both the pilot as his spotter, i mean, "I GOT LOCK" "FUSH" "boom". and that from 700m abouve the target, above everything, they cant see shit xD

i never really liked strafing the targets, its not very PRish rewarding, and the strange jet flies as if it were rockets, it doesnt change anything if you make a barrel roll! you can even fly the whole round upside down if you want! thats my jet critism.

IE, the gau8 rocks, but its extemely unbalanced vs mecs who dont have a such devestating (and long time whitout reload ) WEAPON.

also i whis the frogfoot whould fire 10-15 missile bursts. or even better automatic... plz.

On topic, what do people tend to use their hydra for on the A-10? I can't really think of a use for them unless they have a fair bit more splash then the GAU-8, in which case they could be good for slightly spread infantry, or just to ensure that you blow up a tank a little quicker if an area isn't very safe.

Just remove them. Put in some more gun ammo.

LGM's definitely. nothings more satisfying than firing a rocket at a laser designator and hearing your spotter say "tank down" or something of the sort.

Firing laser missiles anyone can do. Lock and press a button. Gunning takes some more skill though. And to put it in perspective...

LGM's = 2x bombs, 4x missiles = 6 targets
A-10 gun @ 50 rounds a target = 10 targets

That says it all.

Well, with the bombs you can destroy multiple targets at a time, and without such a high risk to yourself. From an infantry point of view, laser guided stuff ftw.

My favorite weapon is the one that gets the job done in the least amount of time, the farthest away, with the least amount of ordinance expended.

Its the only remotely safe way to give CAS support from very high altitudes

A. Main gun/Unguided rockets Only when i'm 99% sure that enemy don't have AA suport(alone tank, truck, choper, APC away from battle field), sometimes i use hydras
but only from long range.
B. Laser guided ordinance When I have laser on my target ;p

A-10 gun @ 50 rounds a target = You need to fly low and that is mean that you are easy target for AA, and APC(low flying A10 VS APC in 60% when i was gunner in APC, was ending A10 where down)

I never use the guided missles, only if im out of GAU which owns, most of the time when i got laser target i just use it to navigate fire(the green box), i found out that laser guided missles tend to miss, and dont have that BigBoom radius the GAU has, in if there is a good f16 pilot, the map is won.

Depends, but mainly unguided...

Laser guided ordinance is my preferred weapon of choice as you don't have to go to low and risk getting shot down and it requires a little bit more team work if the guys on the ground know what they are doing(most don't)...

Using the main gun and rockets is fun, BVR strikes from like 2500 are sweet because the enemy are like "wtf where'd that come from"
