4 or 5 steps for something that should take 2 is not a solution.
  • Place Smoke

There you go much better

In urban or forest environments you will not able to see the smoke. A marker on the map is visible and for longer times. Plus placing attack marker and using the commo rose for contact report takes just as long as the grenadier loading his smoke grenade.

This is a good example of why a CO can be helpfull in directing squads to attack a single target and yet people want a way to avoid needing a CO so other people stepping up to the CO position can complain that SLs do not communicate with the CO.

I have nothing against the coloured smoke, but I just don't see the need for it as I have plenty of other working methods.

i reckon it should be blue or orange/red smoke for signaling CAS strikes. thats about all it would be useful for, other wise there will be patches of coloured smoke all around the joint

Most people dont even use smoke for Landing zone... I doubt they would for that.

I like the idea. I could see this as a great tool in maps such as Op Barracuda.

Be a good distraction too!

*Soldier walks out of corner, sees smoke

"OOOOO PURPLE SMOKE!!!"

*gets turkey'd by a Hellfire/bomb/rocket/place-explosive-weaponry-here.

Sure that could happen with a hand thrown nade, but with the GL, longer ranges and SAFER ranges are possible.

I really like the idea, good way to make the grenadier kit colorful!

Little bump. Can we get this, would it be mag linked with normal smoke?

I like it too, maybe we could add a flare to the grenade kit too?

Like, a distress flare, or a warning flare, something!

Yeah I like the idea very much and some people are concerned about possible spamming with those smokes. Well just give two different color grenades + the normal ones the kit has already, should be enough

Tirak wrote:Just a small suggestion, give the Grenadier a faction smoke for his grenade launcher. Sometimes an SL wants to mark a position but is too far away, the Grenadier kit has a massive range, by giving him this SLs will be able to mark targets for those not in his squad.
Grenadier is inaccurate, do we want SL to fire 4 smoke grenades before he hits the right postion. Besides RL perspectiv, this doesn't happen.
And how are those not in the squad gonna know what the other squad leader wants with the signal?
There is text message for this, and mumble voip is on it now.

Although it can be used for other occasion:
During night and adverse weather conditions, the grenadier also may employ illumination rounds to increase his squad's visibility and mark enemy or friendly positions.
Illuminiation round:

I like to pop smoke on the enemy building and type Enemy troops in the smoked building in c4 kp5 attack heli no civis in the building open fire this is the funniest thing to do if there's 12 in a huge building area and now i could say colored smoked building +1

Urm, more steps, because the squad leader has to relay the instructions to the grenadier, just as he'd have to relay the instructions to the CO.

However, coloured smoke - I'm for it. BUT, gotta make sure the smoke density is lower for coloured, so that you don't cloak the very targets you want to mark. I think it's like this ATM, but worth bearing in mind.

-Well, density should be high. Area should be low.
