It's minimap properties not squads.

It's useful so you can see who belongs to what squad. It lets you know if a big blue mob is really a bunch of random players from various squads or a single squad.

Yeah that'll be quite an interesting side benefit, plus it'll kinda help you work out whether it's worth staying in a server at a glance rather then trying to read the game by looking through individual squads... not to be too cynical or anything...

AnRK wrote:Dude, that pictures kinda retarded, no offence. Seriously think about it man, I know servers can have some pretty stupid players on, but I've NEVER seen every squad spread out randomly like that, nevermind being so close to members of other squads simultaneously.
No worries AnRK, I won't take it as offence, in fact, a well argued discussion is what it needs to improve this mod ;)
This pic is truely randomly spread, but wouldn't it even be worse if you think about e.g BiMing, Kashan Bunkers, Barracuda, etc. where at least 3 Squads are rushing in together in caprange? Then you have a big bunch of multiple colored dots on one spot... holy ****, that would be a graphical overflow :D

But to keep it fair: It is a matter of personal like or dislike, so IF this could be coded, there should be an option to turn this on or off. Then I won't complain anymore, but I am sure if it will be multiple colored squads, there will be many players like me who dislike this :)

The idea is good but you should be able to tell whos in on your squad pretty quickly. I suggest you make the minimap icon of the your own squad a very obvious color or something like that.
Or make it bigger of some sort at so you can quickly see who's on your squad and who isn't

I already said that green would still be your squad's color. It's personal thing if player can see that green easily or not. :p

This is a good idea there is always 1 squad of people that only give away your location this would let me see if that guy coming to me is from squad 5 that just shoots at everything that moves right by me

Great idea.

I think it would be helpful for members in own squad to be identified by some consistent means other than name, such as number (1,2,3,etc) or symbol (circle, square, triangle, etc) or color (as described here). Reason it is hard to read the name of the player on screen (for me) cause the name is so small, I literally have to squint and put my face on the screen and hope the player stays still long enough for me to figure what i want to call him out of his uber-long-cryptic name. calling him "red", or "square" or ,"# 2" would be helpful and I could see who he is in the squad screen and he could see who he is in the same screen. IRL you would have spent more than 60 seconds with your squad and thereby have has some reasonable time to remember/come-up-with names for them.

As far as other squads go, I don't care who they are as long as they aren't TK'ing me.

Red could get confusing especially for newer players. Used to red equaling enemy.

What would change he would see the color he is used to. If you have been color blind all your life you just dont see the same color, but you could for most part spread them apart as you know that the color you see is purple you just dont see it the same way as normal people.

I found this sentence quite funny and since this is a war game forum I will put it here. No offense to the french just a good laugh.

OK! Since this suggestion was made to make it easier for the SL to keep his men togheter, i suggest, you eliminate the SM ability to see friendlies from 100 m on the Minimap.

That way, if he was told that that squad next to us (Less than 100 m) Is squad 2, he would understand that, and he would also look for a long time on an enemy or ask the SL to shoot a specific target more than 100 m away when he saw a contact.

Also for the colours, if we can implement this then i am happy, but! Make the squad numbers or "Tags" like a square and inside the symbol or number of the squad. Its like we already have it.

Colours would need to Be Colour Opposites, and the Symbols should always have a souronded white or black on it, depends on the lightness of the colour.

My few öre's: No need as it's the commander/ SLs job to know the location of other squads and if you still need to know it only takes a few extra seconds on the spawnscreen. I guess you are in cover when trying to locate ppl, s the extra seconds wount matter,.

I don't see any reason not to include this, as it doesn't bring anything unfair to the game and just makes the GUI easier to use.

+1 in my book as I get confused easily with the map.

There was some talk about removing players on the map.. Then maybe giving colours could help.

Does it give any unfair advantages? If you had real radio comms you would be able to know the general area of sqds, so having colors would actually help identify where their operational area is. It also lets folks who are just joining the game quickly figure out the nearest place to spawn in to join up with their squad.

Doesn't do anything unfair and both sides would get it, so again I don't think there is anything at all wrong with it. Only if it can be done though.

All i hope is that the SM only can see friendlies within 100 m, its more realistic that way.

You didn't get the point. It's not SL's job to guess, is that bunch of 10 players random people or 2 organized squads.

This is just about eliminating the need to guess stuff. Of course you can go to spawnscreen, check the squad to you see them as white, but that takes long in my opinion and at least SL should really know which guys are from what squad.

Of course you can always ask commander to inform you, but have you seen commanders lately ingame? I haven't.

EDIT: Could DEVs give a word that is this even possible? :)

Like everyone has said, it couldnt hurt. About the random mass of multicoloured dots, squads tend to stick together anyway, so it wouldnt be that bad.
The hard part is finding nine suitable colors.
That is a very good point, if there are loads of obscenely bright colours it will turn the map into something picasso would be proud of!! :D
