More enterable buildings on the outskirts facing towards the VCP and overlooking the whole area to make advancing forces more weary of snipers.
Not like now when the only decent places are roofs (first thing you look towards for a sniper really) and the destructable buildings which get destroyed 10seconds into a the game.
More of those little rocks on the road to hide IEDs under maybe 'some' folliage in the desert near VCP too.

An envroiment more structured for the insurgents. One thing from the older versions wich I liked were the basements under some houses.
I don't know what more to say... Ah... Ah ! The AA guns someplaces, like, with the british need air support, they need first destroy the AA bateries.

i think 2 different types of game play.
1 classic AAS MEC vs USMC
2 insergent mode Insergents Vs Brits.
the first can symbolize the intial taking of the city, in my opioun it would bring the best urban style fighting.
the second would only make sence as the aftermath in the insergent mode. making twice the oppertuinty to the one map.
just a thought.

Chokepoints for the insurgents to take advantage of.

I agree with this, especially if there were more enertables within the city itself (not just the outskirts). I've noticed there are some scattered around, but some main roads (ie. just outside the city to the south on the main road) need more cover for ambushes.
Other than that this map works fine for me as it is.

All landbridges to be taken out, if the insurgents have to repair/defend bridges to get at their "heavy" vehicles, then UK forces should be allowed to have to do the same. Also, put something in the bottome left hand corner of the map, it's just empty now.

i agree with Rudd. except on the moving vcp. it would be to the south to protect the bridge from VBIED's and such.
i would like to see the river areas lined with vegetation. trees, shrubs and maybe grass.
the fields should have water in the rows like small canals that they dig to water their fields.
the random houses between vcp and village should have an ownership of somewhat to a pacific field though they mite already....
the one 2-story house to the southeast of vcp should have a field and a canal to the field.
it seems to me the town cuts off drastically at the gas station. how bout some village type building to the south that just line the road half way to the very south bridge.
infact the whole town should have the shanty type buildings surrounding it.
the palace could be a more spectacular Sadam palace if there is one already made.
destroyable doors on houses
insurgents able to build road blocks (limited # of course)

Make a land bridge or make one bridge undestroyable/half destroyable (ie only have the bridge blows up like left lane, and the right lane is passable) cause nothing can get oiut of the palace when the challenger shows up

Maybe make the storm out in the distance, because then the game timer will have a realistic feel to it. I.E you have to find and destroy caches before the storm hits because storm will destroy communication devices + vehicles etc.
Make it you have to defend VCP again. Insurgents get extra bombcars if they cap it.

I'd like to see it redone totally. The map is to small and doesn't work with newer versions of insurgency. Lets see there is a VCP, a small city, a refinery, and a village. THE MAP IS TO SMALL!!!!

Hm yeah, something like with Laniyal on Korengal valley: you don't have to defend it, but if you don't, the opposing team gets an advantage (higher insurgent morale -> lower respawn/they bring out more heavy weaponry?)

not really i think that it would just alow more ways to play.
me presonaly i think that al barsah would be a great combined arms map. i suggest it becaues i beileve if over haul is an idea why not try it at its full potential. and right now servers are running thier own map lists that do not follow any particular order than personal preferance. i know over the years a lot of work has been done on this map it would be a shame not consider different modes for it.

Aye, I wouldn't mind a new lighting setting.
