well, i was thinking that some people who are willing to help the new players make a squad and ask on the team chat if there are any new players who need help and have questions, and ask them to join the squad that want to learn to play PR and basically answer their questions show them to tactics etc etc

that way the gameplay wont get ruined by new players simply due to their lack of knowledge.

i think there were some ppl who did the same thing for releases. im just saying we should start doing this more often!!

I'm trying to make advanced tactics and squad coordination common sense on servers, and in the process have also had new players listen to me babbling. Without a mic and a willingness to learn not just about the sniper kit or the armour, theres only so much one can do though. I wouldnt have a problem telling them everything they need to know for 20 Minutes straight and then some for training of advanced inf movement. But nilla noobs get impatient almost instantly, thats probably y noone reads the manual.

EA's ad for PR has brought so many new players to PR in the past few days I think we need to be as helpful as our patience will allow.

Today I saw a lot more people NOT being helpful than those being helpful.

Yes, they should read the manual, but let's be realistic. In our "perfect little world" every new player would study the manual for hours before logging on to their first game. It doesn't happen that way. They'll download it and play it. We need to take into mind how overwhelming it is for a vanilla player to switch... then to be screamed at through the whole game.

I just there are some of us that need to be a little more patient with the new guys. over and out. :p
i agree 100%! had a new guy jump on TS today to get to know the game. instead of tarding like one may expect, he stuck close, followed squad members and observed. dont treat any new players with disrespect. i dont like it when people refare to new mod players as noobs. your a noob if your daft. you are inexperianced when your new to somthing imo.

i read the manual just to pass the time of the dl when i started 8)
i like it when they say there new to the mod, not running arorund like noobs, and pretending they have done it all before, on there first game

well i wrote this in another post but here fits better..

Don't be so hard on the newbies, yes they need to RTM first but one thing that will help them to understand the game quickly is the veterans support, at least it worked for me when i was a .6 maggot

Lets hope for the majority to be mature enough an adjust quickly to the rules...

I will help them by telling them to read the manual, cus there is so much new stuff it cant be done in ingame chat.

I'm a new guy.

And I read the manual.

Then, I had to log onto the forums to find out that after downloading the core mod and levels, I have to download Visual C++ to fix the Vista memory thing, and then maybe shitty Punkbuster will let me try to play for more than 1 minute...

At least I'm still optimistic! :D

It seems cool enough and hopefully it won't run as crapily as the last time I tried this mod, which was back somewhere around something like 0.65 or something release.

I have a much better computer now.

But yeah, be patient with us newbies. And I'll do my best not to set off friendly IED's or accidentally run you over backing up my jeep or something.

i have no problem helping new people. today i was helping an squad of all new people that wanted to learn the game. but keep on having the problem of the noobs TKing. and killing assets. and the good one was some vets were bring back the Apache to reload so some noob that TKed for a heavy AT kit TKed the Apache. server kicked after that. but its the people that keep doing that makes it so hard to teach them. but add least the 5 guys i was teaching know the basics for INF combat with Humvee 50.cal fire support.

The amount of Newb-ism is just annoying, I was practicing Fast roping with my mate on TRAINING and all people were saying to newbies who asked for help was "z0mg read teh manul nub"

Real example:

"Hey guys, ummm is it the arrow keys to taxi the plane?"
"Read the fucking manual noob"
"yea read it"
"Too many fucking noobs after 0.85 ban the fucker"

Yes, that was real and there were alot more.

I have no problem trying to help people but when I get someone in my squad who doesn't know what they are doing and won't listen then I get rid of them.

I had someone in the squad the other day who explained at first he was knew and I told him to stay close and listen carefully and he did, he did a good job.

On the other hand I got someone yesterday who joined the squad, yelled "I snipe, I snipe!" every time I told him to do something and then decided to abandon the Sniper kit and get a Pilot instead, on Asad Khal... Now although he was new and didn't know any better he refused to cooperate with me and you just can't help those people.

My main problem is new players who join because of the ad do not want PR, they just want something new. Most came to PR because they were like vanilla Sux0rz I hoped I would get Operationflahpoint with fixed Multiplayer, but BF2 was not it. So we started looking for mods.

I can only hope those who do not embrace PR for what it is will get bored and tune out.

Embarrassing. Can tell you for certain that was not a PR vet or regular player. Probably an idiot plain and simple. Can“t get rid of those, not at least using an admin online.

Training server are vital indeed.

I said it million times and I'll say it again - there is a huge difference between being a newbie and a noob.

Newbie is a player who is new to PR and likes the thought behind it, but simply doesn't know yet how it works.

Noob on the other hand, is a plain idiot who just likes the new assets and maps and would like to apply the vBF2 principle to it and is never gonna adapt to how it's really supposed to work.

I wouldn't mind helping newbies - every single one of us used to be a newbies back then too.

I dont help people if they havent read the manual.Maybe its boring for many people to read all of the manual but at least one should take a look on basics before joining a server.

That's kinda wrong. Who knows, what if they've read it but forgot some of the things... For example, they might have problems with using the zoom in an APC - especially if they've remapped the "pop smoke" key, like me.

best way is to make your own squad instead of bunching up with friends

Well, whole squad of new people is bad but 1, maybe 2 of them in is really welcome.
