2 phases

Phase 1: Nominations
During January 2009 every indie game and mod on the site has a voting booth activated in their profile. It is now up to you, to find your favorites, play them and vote for them - so we can narrow thousands of contenders down to the players choice top 100...

Phase 2: Top 100
On January 17th the Top 100 mods and indie games you voted for in phase 1 will be announced and a second round of voting will commence until February 5th. Again, it is up to you, to vote for your top 3 in this list - so we can narrow the top 100 down to a handful of winners...

Phase 3: Winners Showcase
At the end of February after thousands of votes have been tallied, we shall be announcing the 2008 Players and Editors Choice winners. These indie games and mods will be showcased in an exclusive video presentation and editorial writeup. Download links will be given so you can play the years best.


So, yeah. Basically 2 phases because the third phase just announces the winners.

You people know that PR is going to get Silver spanner again?

Because on the scoreboard first modded game is Half Life 2, which means, either Insurgency or Black Mesa gets 1. place [FYI, they have nearly 20,000 votes - PR barely has 10,000].

But, it's good anyway, getting silver spanner almost every year is indicator that this DEV team is persistent and brilliant...

Black mesa cant win MOTY as its not given out yet. It can win best unrealeased mod though. BEsides half life 2 mods has always gotten alot of votes. BUt that is because its like 20different mods that are popular.

Ok, so, HL2 had 32 mods, 22 released and 10 un-released.


BF2 had only 6 mods.


If you share the game votes for the ammount of mods, BF2 mods would get more votes than the HL2 mods.

Black mesa is competing in a different category (unreleased mods) and Insurgency won last year. AFAIK, you can't win the gold spanner twice. Let's see how it goes.

Don't know about the other HL2 mods though. Has there been any big releases recently?

Too bad that leaders of Moddb actually can't give some "supreme" votes that are there to tip the scales - in that case, PR would win, and reign of HL would end (ok, this was too cheesy).

My best friend is doing some HL modding for himself, says that these days any fool can work in Source engine, make good models and nice textures, and come up with decent mod.
