Ahhh, the fun part is that I thought about how it felt first and how I'm missing that now a couple of days ago (I had heard the soundtrack from 0.7 for some reason).

Remember I had been sitting around youtube and reading the forum and stuff and watching all the beatifullnesses of the mod for two weeks efore downloading it (dunno why).
And it was AWSOME.
Remember my first round was on Mestia (0.7) and I was just amazed by the fact that people worked together (and had to because they would die otherwise i thought) made me feel I'd ended up just right.
And the n00bic heroics one did in the early days (like taking out a tank crew alone as a medic on qwai or for some reason ending up in the middle of a crawling enemy squad but beeing to afraid to shoot) because one didn't know better then to run off all alone...aaaah, sure miss that.

Well, although everybody is reminiscing over their personal defloration of PR, the OP was about the missing novelty effect, once you start to know the maps.

I am starting to experience something similar, although with the maps getting bigger and bigger, and the mappers doing stuff like caves and tunnels, there is still a lot of stuff to discover.

Anyway, I only see three possible solutions to this problem:
1) more mappers make more maps
2) each PR download comes with a free sample of infectious Alzheimer-ridden brain tissue
3) A random map generator, that generates a random map during the map load screen.
