It seems to me that dolphin diving /insta prone...call it what you want, is a lot more common lately. It could be the influx of new players coming in using vBF2 tactics but it is a game spoiler. It especially annoys me when an enemy apears around a corner just a foot or two away and insta prones at your feet and kills you by shooting you in the legs. It also seems that the divers accuracy is much better giving an advantage and by the time I crouch and aim Im dead.

Not a fan of that "wiggle" effect when standing or jumping but adding that to prone would do me for now and at least give an advantage over the insta prone devotees.

I also do not like the jack in a box players who constantly pop up and down over a wall taking a shot then going down again without accuracy penalty.

I've said it countless times, but not if your opponant was in a stable firing position / advancing tactically - its how you got the kills in .8, if only people cottoned on...

Frequently not possible especially on urban maps. You bump into each other.

Personally I found there to be no difference. I got tired of hearing all those cracks in the end from that whole squad lying prone on the roof....

Thank you, this is what I mean.

The "suggestions" in this thread does not apply since what I'm talking about is an exploit of the engine (taken from the answers in the beginning of thread) and the fact some players use it without restriction annoys the hell out of me. I'm sure the influx of vanilla players is a contributing factor to the "tactic" rearing its ugly head again, so hopefully it will decrease over time.

As I said, if the devs can't do anything about it because of the engine, I'll accept that. Just don't try and teach me basic tactics and how to play the game without actually reading the thread.

Onslaught wrote:I know the devs have taken steps to reduce the hated dolphin diving "tactic" but unfortunately I don't think it's enough. It's not nearly as common as it was before but the point is, it shouldn't even be possible. Yesterday I got killed 10 times in one round of Muttrah by dolphin divers and it just made me sad.

If possible, the time from standing to prone to being able to fire should be increased even more so that this "tactic" will just make you look silly if you use it. If it's not possible due to the engine then so be it, but right now it's an ugly vanilla leftover that has no place in a game like PR.
Search button. If there were a way, the Dev's would have done it by now. It's just something we have to live with.

This is a valid tactic and effective way to use cover....

Yes, but you should take an accuracy penalty is his point i think, not that people are popping in and out of cover.

Common practice in vBF2.

For the record, that is not dolphin diving. It is the current jump-to-insta-prone move. Since patch 1.41 introduced the delay from prone to standing, dolphin diving is a long gone memory.

I have noticed there is more of a tendency to insta-prone. I chalk it up to new players but it doesn't really bother me. I usually always hear them coming anyways. ;)

Correct. As it is a player can pop up and down as much as they want as long as he/she does not move the mouse position the sight will be on the same spot without accuracy penalty.

Yes because most of the deviation settlement is based on WASD movement so if you stay still and pop up and down you suffer very little penalties.

None of you don't move the mouse I think, judging from the HAT deviation cross hairs.

Make deviation really high when going prone for like 3-4 secs, showing as putting one hand down, liying and getting the rifle back to your shoulder.
