TBH, if enemy soldiers could get close enough to kill a adequately crewed tank then something's wrong with the tank crew or they've got no situational awareness whatsoever.
A tank is easy to sneak up on.

A tank with infantry support is something different entirely.

Exactly. A lone wolf tank crew spearheading into enemy territory without support is easy to sneak up on if you try and understand what they are looking at before making a mad rush for them.

yeah good tanking should always have at least 2 tanks traveling together.

Keep in mind that the incidenary delivers a single blow of damage and that's only when it goes off.

After it goes up in flames you can happily dance around in them without any damage at all.

Therefore you have to make sure it detonates when it's right next to the tank.

He is right I would like to see a lasting affect nothing worse then using the affect as cover.

I did this yesterday with a couple of guys in a PRT practice.

found a tank, ran up to it, and we all dropped incindearies on it. not my fault the driver wasnt scanning behind.

An incendiary below a BMP-3 damages it to the point of burning. If that BMP hadn't been standing next to the Supply Depot it would have blown up.

incidenary should do same effect as molotov, burning througn steel and choking the crew with smoke (from all those metals, probably not a healthy smoke), though not "burning"/destroying the vehicle.

But then again, I dont know how heat resistant new materials used in armor are...

uhm, i have done this lot of times, thrown the inc grenades on or below vehicles, but it never really seems to do serious damage.

great point! I was about to bring it up.

But i suppose people dont mind as much because c4 could be used in tons of other situations. Also that the inc nades are very useful when setting up/destroying bases.

Anyway I do agree that the inc nades should not be able to take out armor as it is rather unrealistic seeing a solider with his grenade, bayonet charge the tank and plant thermite on his engine/barrel/etc.

Well if someone gets that close its the tank/supporting infantrys fault.

I think the question is whether or not the incidenary is being used as intended. Of course, devs can't really predict how players are going to use tools given to them with precision in the first place.

realism; thermate on the engine block of a tank is effective IRL, and it is used to disable enemy armor.
