The mod is called Project Reality, not Project Fancy Stuff.

Unless the gear is actually in service don't expect anyone to agree with your suggestions...

I agree, lets stop the E-drama and let Nosferatu reign down on us with impunity.

Do we really need a Russian soldier to tell us how pointless this idea is?

The properties of the weapon wouldn't be different enough from the AK-74U to require an all-new model and all-new sounds.

If it is the Groza-1 (Chambered in 7.62x39), it would have sounds identical to the AK47 as it shares the same action, barrel length and cartridge. The Groza chambered in 9x39mm would require a new firing sound, and as many others have pointed out, is not a common sight among Russian line-troops.

It does live up to it's name as far as fugliness goes (Groza = horror)

Sorry to piss on everyone's parade, but the PLA aren't using their standard issue Type 56 in PR are they? Unless I'm very much missing the mark here they are still only in use with a relatively small proportion of the army.

This particular suggestion is a bit OTT though it would seem.

The PLA uses the QBZ in real life, the Type 56 is only for reserve troops IIRC. Or the Type 81 I think something like that, but I'm very sure they use the QBZ.

In PR some armies have weapons that the front line troops aren't all using, but which are slowly being issued, such as the M-16A4 and the QBZ-95.

i think the case with the PLA was that they were supposed to be all using the qbz and they were being issued, but now from what i understand they are gonna go with the type 03 instead? with armies like the PLA its a bit harder for the devs to get concrete facts on them as their armies are a bit more secretive than say, the US army.

Locked.

On the Groza:

The OC-14 is primarily issued to MVD Spetsnaz, chambered in 9x39mm. The 7.62x39mm version has been seen in very small numbers with GRU units but is an extreme rarity. We don't feature the MVD in PR and it turning up in GRU units is so rare, combined with the scrapping of the SF kit, that its inclusion would be entirely inappropriate. Also, its nothing more than a bullpuped AKM with an optional built in UGL in regards to its worky bits.

On the AN-94:

The AN-94 is an extremley limited issue weapon seen almost exclusivly in the hands of GRU Spetsnaz, sometimes popping up with the MVD. I've seen reports that there may be one motor-rifle division entirely outfitted with them, but even so this is only one formation. Again, this is a weapon used in small numbers almost only by Russian SF (seeing AK variants, or even specialst weapons like the VSS or VAL is more common). We no longer have an SF kit and its use as an officer weapon is unrealistic. For the foreseeable future the AN-94 is going to be seeing alot more action in parades than in Chechnya or Dagestan.

On the Type-95 (QBZ-95):

This weapon is currently replacing the Type-81 (the Type-56, the AK-47 copy, has been entirley relegated to malitia units as far as I am aware) as the stanard assault rifle in PLA service as they move from 7.62x39mm to 5.8x42mm ammuntion. While it has not yet been issued to all units in the PLA or the Malitia by any means it is spreading rapidly.

And the M16A4 is issued to the USMC infantry forces as standard. source
