Those are good ideas, but the biggest problem probably is the Grail. XD
And by grail, I mean the SA-7 MANPAD Grail:
BTW, this is in reference to Chris' post.

Grail is the NATO designation for the SA-7

Wtf, I thought there were only 2 of those per side, did they change this for insur? If so decrease in the kit amount is def. needed!

I've taken to just hanging around at mainbase for the first 20 minutes while waiting for the apache to spawn, sitting in one of the towers or on one of the machinegunposts, cutting down any insurgents that try to rape our main. After the Apache is up that job usually gets a lot easier.

Exactly
If you want to fly a chopper make sure it's clear for take off. Pilots often completly forget about teamwork. Ask for some help to make sure it's safe to take off.

Try to get help on a french server, good luck.
You need 3 guys to defend main, one at west, one at east, and one on the tower of mosquee, but those guys could think it's an undesirable job, and useless, and won't stay there for 2 hours, so we need bot...i leave

Well i guess the biggest problem with this map is the sa 7 but the placement of the main base is kind of too close to those buildings like somebody else already stated.
If the main base was put off a bit more out to the west or east in the desert, it would make things considerably better.
If you are getting raped after that, then yes, you deserve to get raped.
But at the moment all buildings and towers right out side of the main base are just too well placed for the insurgents. I stole a US sniper and killed anybody that was inside. It took 3 convoys to kills me.
Dont ask why it took so long but i just owned the base with one gun by myself from up there. Its kind of sad.

The map desing kinda favors the camping... Just remove all the helos and put some more strikers to play, or just the apache. The apache is too much of a burden for the insurgent so they have to focus on shooting it down at all cost..
Same thing in falujah west, 4 apcs in a small map.. Got to IED the exits of US base. Only way to win...

I would like to see this area as a no-go area for the Insurgents.
It would give the choppers an area to fall back to. It may not prevent SA7's from getting you, but if your quick to fall back behind the wall after take off, the technicals will have a harder time.
Not saying that this would be either the only or the best change, but its a start imho.
At second thought, the complete removal of SA-7's would proably be a good idea. The insurgents would still have their RPGs and technicals to counter the apache, but the choppers wouldnt have to worry about getting locked from far outside the viewdistance.

There will be changes to karbala for PR v0.9, including moving the US base to a more secluded area that is more portected and not close to the main city.

Zrix, are u high????
PS: i like ur video
I guess you havent seen how we fly the apaches these days.... its up high over 500m, where its no RPG land, lol, some, SA-7s are good. But the amount they have now is idiotic.
But as fuzzhead just said, its all gonna be good. So lets hold off on this topic till 0.9 rolls around.

Yup, nice one fuzzhead.
The map is awesome, though. And with this problem outta the way, it'll be all the better. Also, I'm taking it the landing space will be expanded? There isn't much room for error when landing because of the high walls and trees, making it very claustrophobic for for the heli. Maybe it's just that I was getting shot at and was impatient to get in and safe, though.

That's a server issue, that's irrelevant to gameplay.
But I agree with moving the US spawn. However i'm not so sure about the actual spawn itself, what is it? A mosque or a sort of palace?

Helicopters is not the only transport available to the US on Karbala.
Take away the SA7 and get insurgents to shoot Apache with RPG's? How many does it take to kill it ? Need 2 for Humvee, can't be less then that.
Dunehunter has the right idea - securing the main, if that is done properly
you can take off easily.US is supposed to look for cashes and blow em up not
to rack up a bunch of kills from above. If the striker can camp
the Mosque exits - there is nothing wrong with raping the choppers taking off.
You got the flares, you got a big wall, the speed - use it.

The base isn't very well designed. No US base that I know of can easily be driven into.

Socket is right, the options I shot off my head were mainly due me thinking aloud what one could do if the base wasn't fixed. Frankly, there aren't that many SA-7s, but what makes them seem so much more available is the fact that, along with the tower near the main that attracts so many, a cache often spawns near the main, providing an easy reload for the Grail-equipped soldier.
Basically, fixing the main would fix all of the problems, and the rest of the map, assets included, could remain untouched.

with 32 players limit per team there's not enough people for base defense which is why in place.
