I love tracers

They help me hit better, they help my buddies see where I am shooting

And the best of all, just like in real life, they work both ways

I could live without them.
They look weird now anyway, they should at least make better ones, not these well, sticks of colour, really is the only way I can describe them.

What would give tracers a use other than IFF, would be massively reducing recoil on deployed SAWs/LSWs/LMGs.

At the moment, a soldier with his SAW deployed (unscoped) is HORRIDLY inaccurate, with massive recoil considering that his weapons is deployed on a bipod and should be just as stable as when it is 'scoped', looking down the sights.
If it was worth firing the SAW (uncsoped) when depolyed, prone, then you would alternatively be able to use the tracers to target enemies at range, instead of using sights; wich obscures your view of how close your rounds are, with the iron sight in the way.

The flight colour is what chemicals you put on the bullet. I believe all NATO Forces( I think) use red tracers(Strontium compounds) and China and Russia use Barium compounds, giving the yellowy green colour you see in game for them. Essentially, you could most likely put some form of copper compound and it would burn green, you could put a potassium compound which burns purply colours, it all depends on what chemcials you have on which changes the colour. In reference to your different colour .50 bullets, are you sure it's not these colours:

As tracers are used by people in real life, then they should stay in game.

tracers are great for iding friend from foe on some maps due to different colours, of course if they grab an enemy weapon it can get confusing, but if you see same colour tracers from four guns, you can be pretty certain of their allegiances

also, when i snipe, i use the enemy tracers to great effect, since rapid fire weapons make a lot of tracers, its easy to see their origins and put the enemies anti infantry weaponry out of commision
these include automated riflemen, vehicles with machineguns and stationary weapons.

I like tracers, Make it easier to aim with the heavy machine gun...

Even though you have iron sights on it, I still like the nice glow to it :D
