To be honest guys, these MD5 PB kicks are pointing towards this sound mod that someone posted....not saying there's anything dodgy about it, but it seems that it has modified some original BF2 files.

Can we please stop posting other player's IP addresses?

If you don't care about yours being shown, that's fine, but I didn't really want mine posted for everyone to see (that means you Fritz, please edit your posts).

Man, Asian, you used to be so nice. I understand your complaint though and I edited my post and removed the IP address.

Done. Didn't mean to expose your IP, I was just trying to give you guys the details on why the kicks were occurring.

Correction, it's not just PB. It's http://www.punksbusted.com which uses PB to do some tighter integrity checks on BF2 installs.

Yes, reinstalling should cure all that, though if you've just modified a single file, having your buddy send it to you may be less painful.

It may also help to just reinstall the full (not incremental) BF2 1.22 patch, not sure. That may put some of those original files back in place.

The goal here is not to inconvenience you guys, but to make it harder for hackers to play. Please keep me updated on any problems you might have and I'll do my best to work with you to resolve them.

Btw, here are some others who were caught:
-=DW=- AButtFungus (slot #14) MD5Tool Mismatch: RendDX9.dll
-=DW=- AButtFungus.EZ (slot #7) MD5Tool Mismatch: RendDX9.dll
-=DW=- AButtFungus.EZ (slot #19) MD5Tool Mismatch: RendDX9.dll
sdl -[IG]-Virus (slot #12) MD5Tool Mismatch: pylib-2.3.4.zip

The first might be something like a wallhack? The 2nd no clue.. Anything that can be affected by python behavior I guess.

Others:
[ZiiP] Lazzars (slot #21) MD5Tool Mismatch: mods/bf2/GameLogicInit.con

Not sure what that is.. The content is supposed to be:
rem *** Put non level specific initializations here ***

rem *** Load multiplayer free camera here
run Common/FreeCamera/Object.con

gameLogic.setDefaultNumberOfTickets 1 250
gameLogic.setDefaultNumberOfTickets 2 250

gameLogic.enableVoHelp 1
gameLogic.supplyDropHeight 50
gameLogic.supplyDropNumSecsToLive 300
#9013: WallEYE-(PR) (slot #3) Ignoring MD5Tool Queries

WallEYE, not sure why? Is your PB install ok? You only got kicked once, though, maybe it was a fluke.

Then there are multiple people who have missing md5 files and a few have changed client.zip files for some maps.

Today, 16 individuals were booted (mostly for changed client.zip files and missing md5 files). So far today there have been 204 individuals playing on the server.

Ugh, well, I got rid of sound mod and made sure all my MD5 files were correct (thx AznLB) but still getting kicked. Reinstalled and waiting for full 1.22 patch to download now. I'm glad some cheaters have been caught, but this is pretty frustrating when I just wanted to sit and casually play a few games after a long day :P

Please bare with the system. I understand that it gets frustrating at times, but we are looking into setting up some kind of Server Association (thank you DEDMON, that idea was mint mate), where one of the entry requirements would be having a streaming server to PsB. These servers could be officially endorsed by PR for being professionally run, well adminned, and above all, SAFE for the community to play on without fear of cheaters ruining a game. This Association would share information on people who constantly cause a nuisense on servers, or are caught cheating by the PB screenshot facility when the PsB scanning doesnt pick them up.

Fritz kindly agreed to run the system on the GHZ server, and it seems to be working as intended. Believe me, the PsB system working with standard PB has been PROVEN to work. I also know that ZiiP clan are using the system. It's being tested to nsure the community has as clean and cheaterless an experience as possible.

Regarding the unofficial sound mod that was floating about, I suggest people are a little more robust in what they install into their game directories in future. There's a lot of collalation between these MD5 mismatch kicks and a program that modded sound files...

PS) Thanks Fritz for answering these guys' questions :)

Although it's a bit of a pita.... let's guess that of the 16 kicked today .. 4 were cheaters / hackers..... that's 4 too many imo... glad to see them kicked (just guessing at 25% of them being cheaters).

Folks with honest intent that are being inconvenienced will hopefully get it sorted so we can enjoy PR without the wall hack twits.

Expect the cheating to get worse as 0.3 is released and gets some new players on board.

IMO this is a good call for Fritz to be learning about this so we can educate other PR server admins on how to configure anti hacking / cheating systems - much appreciated mate!

I dont see why people who install the bf2 editor should get kicked?

that means all the devs are going to get kicked? how nice?

really, just get more admins, that will be on the server most of the time. Admins are the best server tool arround!
