its just a waste of a patch, why its 1.16 gigs? prolly cause of the new map and poor optimization

Apparently changing one of the weapons, and stopping bunny hopping added 500mb
However, it was stated that for legal reasons, one item is missing from the change log which will be present in the open beta release; it appears that the Battlefield community will need to wait on that front.
I wonder what change that is?

1.16 gigs
my guess its full patch from 1.0 to 1.50, so if you patch from 1.41 it would be ~500-600mb

No
"Its incremental from 1.41.
So either update to 1.41 or if you have Battlefield 2 Complete Collection from EADM you'll be ready to update from there. "

Why cant we play with 128 players?
I mean, where is the code that says that?
Is it Client or server issue?
Cant we like open the game in "windowed" mode, or track the "Code" to find out where it is, that executes "Kick player 65"?
is that possible? and how did AIX add so many bots into the game?

The DICE guys answer, yesterday regarding 128 players was this :
While code wise its probably easy to lift the restrictions we also have to consider more than just a code change.
Does the change cause instability across the game even if the numbers arent above 64 players.
What server specs does 128 players need to run smoothly and will server hosts even allow that many on their servers.
The ammount of testing to make sure it works as it should even if its only for mods to use.
If we implemented it and it caused problems with the mod who would deal with it? Obviously it'd have to be DICE to make code changes. This would show both the mod and BF2 in bad light.
Which is all a load of bollocks, as they could just call it an unsupported feature, same as 4km maps etc.

I think all the bad patches put BF2 in a bad light long time ago. Allowing 128 players could make alot of people happy, seeing as alot of people hate BF2 and PB already.

I'll be glad when I see it hasn't broken anything else.
The rationale for no 128 player support is pretty stupid, much like the only people that'd actually complain if it were ridiculously unstable as they seem to think it may do. Like space said they could easily say it was unsupported and take no responsibility for anything adverse which may happen, something I'm sure alot of more reasonable players and modders would be happy with.

^ He's saying that it would possibly disrupt X/64 servers stability if implemented --would you be happy unable to play PR, vBF2, or any other related game online? If this is a potential outcome of implementing x/124 or x/110 servers.. Are we willing to make this sacrifice?

DICE probably thinks they did half the work for PR

.
If this patch doesn't fix the bugs that need it I don't see why anyone would even update. Things like squad bug and server crashing is long overdue to be fixed and I would not be surprised if they just passed them up.

Yeah that's pretty reasonable actually, took that in a pretty silly context the first time I read it...
