I find it sad that we could remove the Mini map and not lose player base but removing tracers would run off all the player base at lest that's what I think they fear the most.
remove tracers add ballistics!

Remove tracers from every weapon except- LMG's, HMG's. Now that would be awesome (and better

)!

Could we keep this on topic, and not Mish Mash this thread up with the old Ballistics Debate...
Removing Tracers on insurgent weapons should have been done a long time ago. When they guy is sitting there loading rounds into the belt for his PKM I seriously doubt that he is placing any tracer rounds in them.

No tracers for insurgents is a must, it would certainly help them with ambushes. Also when someone can't see the source of the gunfire it would make it more difficult to work out the direction and number of insurgents - possibly making it easier to supress them.
I'd prefer realistic ballistics over tracers just to make it feel a bit more real, as I find the tracers don't offer a huge help, when I play I normally play medic so I can't really see the tracers and whenever I can see the tracers I can see the dust clouds regardless. Tracers don't really help when it comes to LMGs either. As soon as I fire the world and his wife decide they want to take a pop at me.

Reading replies and I thought, It will be good idea to remove all of tracers from all factions.
But if Military faction (PLA, US Military, British Armed Force, Russian Ground Force, MEC) Armor vehicles and Machine guns use tracer in real life, then it should stay. I don't know. Let's ask real military peoples that helps out this Mod. Seriously, what is any advantage of Coalition forces in Iraq to use tracer round every five shot battling against Insurgency? Do they really do this?
I also think Taliban and Chechen DON'T use tracers due to same reason as Insurgent. So I suggest their tracer should go to.

As far as i know you have tracer rounds for LMG, HMG and such, so you can correct the fire during the fight. For instance, if you have a LMG/HMG you will in most cases have a spotter that can correct your fire. The machinegun is a support weapon for the group, platoon etc. So no, dont remove all tracer rounds from all weapons, keep tracers for machineguns atleast.

Tracers work both ways.
For snipers/marksmen/sharpshooters they show where a long range hits, for the receiving end, easier to see where fire is coming from.
Plz dont remove tracers they are integral part of combat and reality. Just give ATLEAST 1 scoped insurgent class. Even if its limited to 1 per squad.
The way tracers we're used back in the days was to see how your bullets dropped and ajust fire. Or simply to see what you are hitting. Then came to designator utility.
I've seen insurgents use tracers OFTEN. Especially at nite ambushing convoys.
Its one thing to wanna hide yourself from the enemy, but its another to not have a CLUE where you are hitting when firing say a PKM or AK downrange.
They DO use tracers. It's not always a cat & mice game like some people seem to think. The muzzle flash of your weapon will give you're exact position waaay faster then tracer rounds.

Unless hes planning to engage the nme @ 300m down a road. Or if he doesnt have optics. Or if he's not gonna be alone and his flanks are gonna be secured, and they are gonna lay down a rain of lead on the enemy.
See you'd rather have the whole place lighted up with tracer fire then only having your PKM muzzle (and exact position) flashing sparkles in the distance. For night time atleast.
During daytime you shouldnt even see tracers that much, the fact we do in PR is a lil unrealistic, but then again, so is a helo flying upside down but we dont remove helos do we. lol
