No I think its only planned for Sangin and possibly in the future a US version for Kashan.

Will it work along side Merlins on Sangin tho ?

theres no way in hell you would pick up a sheridan with that huey! escpecialy that particular model (which I believe is a M model. And no way are you going to lift a CR2 or Abrams even with a Chinook, If my memory serves me right 42,000lbs using the front and rear hook is the max.

I wouldn't mind the chinook being penetrable to certain ammunition from the sections not covered by kevlar, but I'd not like it to fall out of the sky unless specific engines etc were hit. (unless the pilot buys it ofc)
I think that this has already been sorted actually. From the changelog for v0.86:
- changed Tranport Helicopter damage system - they now have twice the amount of HP, but get their engine disabled around 70% HP. This means crash landings will be much more common and gives passengers chance to escape more often.
I like the idea of having the entry point inside the chinook too, would be very cool

It certainley does, and the Apaches in Aghan have real problems keeping up and providing top cover for them :-)

I'm not sure

I'd have to see the hitbox stuff first, if the chopper takes the same amount of damage on the hull as the engines...

But I bet the team have already thought of that.

Yeah fair point, would be silly for it to crash after taking a couple .50 rounds in the fuselage.

I just had a thought, am I right in thinking that when it comes in PR will be the 1st video game ever to feature a chinook? I've not seen it in any other game where it is actually possible for the player to fly it, is it in ArmA or a flight sim or something like that?

Please correct me if im wrong. If im right it would be one hell of a selling point for PR...

Yeah people dont realize how fast or manueverable a CH47 is, I saw some film of a British Army 47 that was doing some "stunt" flying, wow!

But then again a 47 with a mini gun in the crew door and ramp doesnt need a lot of cover LOL

Normal Cruise Speed: 130 knots / 137 mph
Rate of Climb: 1,522 ft/min
Rotor System: three manual-folding blades per hub (two hubs); 225 revolutions per minute; 60-ft rotor span
Troop Capacity: 36 (33 troops plus 3 crew members)

Sling-load Capacity: 26,000 lb center hook; 17,000 lb forward/aft hook; 25,000 lb tandem

Don“t be deterred by the voices/initial nothing but watch it all. Thats just some amazing flying there. Try those dives in PR. :p When It comes out I am definitely going to dedicate to making it fly like that. :)

My god... I feel practically ashamed of being oblivious to the Chinooks true capability. I mean, I have seen it perform operations where they hover it ever so slightly within water and use it to scoop up a small boat. I've also seen the Pilots park the rear-end of a Chinook on a building to unload cargo while the front half dangles in the air. I've given it credit in the past, but I've practically doubled the respect I have for it and then some. It's clear to me now as to why Chinook Pilots have so much affection for their whirlybirds.

I've seen a decent amount of piloting in my time. But at the moment, I am simply stunned by the abilities this aircraft has. Not only that, but to think that this helicopter would still probably outperform most aircraft that were considered modern.

I have to admit, the amount of precision some pilots have is astounding. Especially considering that aircraft are under influences that are more severe in reality than in gameplay. It truly makes gaming with helicopters a joke.

Flying is truly a science. If you had ever gotten a glimpse of it for yourself or experienced it first hand, then you'll be able to fully appreciate it. It takes a lot of practice at first, after that has been accomplished your own cunning abilities will extend that to even greater heights.

Simply remarkable... Breathtaking... Wonderful.

More than 8 players in a vehicle: Hardcoded, and even if it wasn't, carrying the whole team in a single vehicle is a very, very bad idea. PR works on a scale - just imagine that the 32 players you are with is a very limited representation of a large fighting force. Hence, everything must be scaled down to fit with this player limit.

If I ever win the lottery I'll buy the Refractor engine for the DEV team...but until then....keep in mind that if it is a really, really cool idea you have for a vehicle, it's probably impossible, courtesy of your pals - DICE
Couple things
A. The Apache in game isn't all that fast
B. Could you have 2 "vehicles" a model?

Done that before, 1nce crashed my engine when I made an implosion bomb but could work...put a constantly exploding C4 with 0 damage, -999999 force and a good ROF below the heli.

And seeing what Jaymz posted, I think it might be possible to have a medic pull out a device constantly imploding.

I myself wonder if its possible to reduce the damage inflicted by water so the chinook could land on it or just lightly hover in it. this way you could possibly pick up troops or even boats if you wish to try it

I hope they make it so you actually can go INTO the chinook, and if so it would be cool to spawn out of it, or at least have one seat right by the door so it can be like a doorman seat. They can work together to position the chinooks entrance towards the edge of the building so people on rooftops and just run onto the chinook. Just a wish and might be too much programming for a too little purpose. Ah the wishes.
