Yeah that's not technically a carrier, it's an amphibious assault ship (LHD in the US Navy).

A Nimitz class carrier would be awesome.....with some Super or Legacy Hornets or JSFs....

That will never happen, but what could happen is putting Harriers on the Essex for a map? Maybe?

A full carrier would be good for an 8x8 island map (instead of a stretched assault ship), but pretty useless in any other case.

That's not even touching the realism of such a scenario or an opposing carrier/ship to put on the opposite side.

Right now the current carrier fulfills all the required roles, its large enough to not be cramped, it has a lowerdeck for apcs/boats. So its not a big deal for it to remain imo.

The British Carrier is more important imo, not cuz I'm british, but it would be wierd for British forces to attack from the sea...from the USS Essex. I mean...Essex....negative connotations (joke)

HMS Ocean will be a great addition to the mod if Smeg can get it finished

Te essex is not a ful grown carrier, its ment for helicopters, and VTOLs like the harrier.

CA could certainly use a Nimitz, but I would say you guys need a Varyag / Admiral Kuznetsov-class aircraft carrier much more

It's not a carrier, it's an assault ship.

Its really not truly either, its a mut. Its like a Carrier and a Assault Ship had sex and this is what popped out

This is because most assault ships are really only designed to take Helicopters and have a small landing bay etc (thou some if 100% necessary could be retrofitted to operate STOVL aircraft, such as HMS Ocean) where this is designed to operate jets (mainly STOVL) and helicopters as well having a landing bay to stage an assault, with a LCAC + more.



But to the original poster, the USS Essex is a real aircraft carrier, its not a super carrier like the Nimitz thou which your suggesting thou for our current maps, the USS Essex is by far the best type of carrier for PR's use since all our maps our Amphibious Assault maps are 1, too small for aircraft and 2, the Nimitz would need an assault ship along side to stage a full Amphibious Assault, it could only supper a Amphibious Assault (thou would do a very effective supporting job).

yea i agree but still the problem is the time to create an exact full size carrier replica yes its possible but find somone who isnt paid by EA or some gaming company to Build such a model :L UNLESS u have some sort of scanner that you can put a toy boat inside and it scans and creates a 3d model to be put into pr i dont think its possible any time soon. if you want the carrier so bad make ur own model and send it to PR devs
