I guess your right tbh, but there still should be a version with a chopper or 2. Like 2 APCs, 2 WMIKs, 1 merlin, 1 lynx.
That way the APCs and Choppers can work in tandem.

the reason the Lynx was removed from the map is that the map's VD is lower than a choppers sound distance, as such we have found this causes the sound bug that has been experienced for many versions. As such, the Lynx was removed from the map.
As such, in order to be able to have any chopper back on the map you will need to increase the VD of the map, and before you do that it needs a load of optimization.

COuld you just copy + paste Lynx files (with new name) and edit the sound distance to smaller value?
Or is that just a stupid idea (as i have no idea about modding BF2)

Yea, lower the lynx sound radius and slightly increase the view distance.
Or something. I miss helicopters, especially since the brits start in an airport.

The funny thing with the merlin is that I never used to get lag with it until they removed the door in 0.85, and now it's unplayable. Although I only seem to get lag on servers, not on local play.

I just love the gears on the thing, has a kind of suspension which mades is really good to land.

it dont work like that and we are 98% sure its nothing to do with anything in the .con or .tweak, we would have spotted it since we have had basically all our coders look thoughly though them and not found anything and trust me, we would have if there was something.
It is most likley something to do with the export setup and as such, its not something that can be solved via a copy and paste with small edits...

About the View distance with helicopters, You were saying maybe the CR2 Desert Sound distance was lowered, well in the Files there's a Reg lynx and a "woodland lynx" (same with BH), So why can't you lower the Sound on one?
With the Merlin, How'd you fix the Huey lag? Because I remember one fix was getting in an APC turret and then the lag goes away, that still works. Any idea how the APC turret fixes the lag?

I get the same thing, but it insn't really lagg it is like choppy to drive, but you could call it lagg for lack of a better word

after all we do only have 30 helo's in theater out of 500.

Same lol the Merlin never lagged before .85. Now for some strange reason on some rare occasions, I get the apc lag glich
That only way to stop it is to grab a new apc
