Re: Weapon Accuracy
Its a good realistic aspect of the game that the Insurgents have to get closer since there are inexperienced, with outdated equipment and most are shopkeepers who picked up an AK when the U.S. invaded.

Re: Weapon Accuracy
if you ever shot a gun. pinpoint accuracy at 100yds in less then 3 seconds is EXTEREAMLY hard to achieve unless your a crack shot.
From a lowered position putting your rifle up and aligning sights that quickly is a very hard thing to do...
I was shooting handguns this weekend and i was having trouble hitting a 1ft target from 10yds with a P2000 so i could imagine what it would be like to hit something at 100yds even if it is a rifle.

Re: Weapon Accuracy
In all honesty, I can't hit anything at the moment. Was out of the loop for a while, I think .7 was the last update I played prior to this and I have to say, there are alot of fubar shots. I do what other people do, same position for 8+ seconds in order to calm the deviation and then I fire. Still cant hit anything, I get rounds going 5+ metres away from where I'm aiming. Also, why am I unable to kill someone with 10+ rounds but someone sidestepping on top of the Mosque in Muttrah can kill me in one shot?
I don't mind the deviation, I just wish there was more public talk about how to use certain weapons. Sniper rifle is unusable for me, have no idea how to gauge how much I need to aim above. Also killed myself with an RPG trying to fire it out of the window.
*sigh* It's better than vanilla though so good on you all

Re: Weapon Accuracy
I like the deviation/accuracy system how it is.
If it was like Arma 2 with a physical 'settle' that you can see (I think this is what it has, watching trailers) it would do real well at simulating the settle.
A few days ago, a fellow in my squad asked me to look at him shooting his sniper rifle (Chinese) while moving. The barrel is horizontally held, but the bullet, by magical gravitational forces, hits the ground straight half a metre in front of him.
This may be a different topic to this one discussed now. But I'm assuming these realistic ballistics won't have such things like this.

If you don't manage to kill an insurgent, don't go after him, he'll IED you.
If you don't manage to kill an insurgent, don't stay in the same place, he'll molotov you.
