A bit over-organizing the groups dont you think? There are only two: Those who help make the mod and those who play it and complain

This is a constantly changing community, with people leaving and joining all the time but I feel the attitudes of a lot of middle ground players, ie time they have been playing the mod is elitist and quite fascist at times.
Some good points raised though.

the only realistic way move the community faward is by good administration and keeping the members of the community busy with goals. skrims, mod development, new ideas.

[R-DEV]Masaq wrote:Exactly the kind of elitism that is the biggest problem with this community, IMO. Personally vet each new player? That, I'm afraid, is a laughable suggestion. We've had over 70,000 players log into PR servers this year... you think we're going to make sure that every single one of them can "play the game" to some arbitrary standard? On what criteria would you assess them, even? How well they fly? Issue SL orders? Request kits? I'm truly baffled by how you think we could do it...
Just can't take it seriously as an idea even for a second, sorry!
Wow sensible tone in that response. Maybe that was a bit extreme but at least make them join an xfire group so at least if they do cause a problem then you can chase them up on it. I see people crash choppers and then sign off server and go to another one. Also if they have to wait a couple of days before they can play then it might weed out people who just come on piss around and dont like it and then we never see them again.

More attention to detail. It clearly says, "Ideas that have already been presented by
other forum users..."
That means "more organized events" was someone elses suggestion

Mate ease up on the attitude. That's the HR manager and ex-lead mod you are calling childish..
Also his views are absolutely spot on imo, if people aren't willing to be helped by more experienced members and/or are smacktarding then server admins will deal with them. It is ridiculously elitist to force everyone who plays the game (as Masaq stated over 70,000 people) to join a single xfire group.
[R-DEV]Hitperson wrote:just out of the question have you been involved with the PRT at all, Personally i do not see what your your trying to get at but i feel that the PRT should be considered as an entity within the PR staff.
More on this cos I was gonna mention something myself, the OP has put the PRT on level terms with the PRL. Some info on the PRT: the PRT is an event created and sponsored by the PR team. The web domain and rights for the event are held also by the PR team and the Lead Admin for the PRT is made an [R-DEV] on receiving the post (even if they are a massive nub nub

).
I think the idea of having links to the main PR website from clan pages is a little pointless because lets face it the majority of people who visit a clan's site are clan members themselves or prospective applicants. In addition there is already a thread in the competitive PR section where clans are free to add they're contact details.
The youtube channel idea, I like, though it would without doubt need a dedicated admin or two to run it effectively. Very good idea though.

Youtube posts are something at the minute that's done by each Dev individually, usually. A PR Channel could be worth utilising though, I agree...

How to improve the community? Do nothing and continue as normal, seems to be working well so far!

It seems we have one, and a group as well. I'm stupid and had forgotten
YouTube - realitymod's Channel
YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

I totaly agree with Masaq's views on this. Yesterday a new guy got kicked from a squad I was in because he made one or two new guys mistakes... Instead of explaining what he was doing wrong: BAM! he was gone. I created a squad to get him in and teach him the ropes but he wouldnt join mine.
We need to open up to new players and teach them everything they need or want to know.

Is the PR wiki still down as i think that would help- if that was written well and people read it then i think that would help. Also when the map is loading instead of having things like "alt f4 doesnt deploy fast ropes" maybe we could have sections about how different parts of the game work. For example explain what rally points are and how they are deployed or what the limited kits mean as im pretty sure not many vanilla guys will know that.

you have to remember the difference between noobies and newbies.
newbies are new to the game and are willing to learn. when i get these guys, i usually tell them the basics but i also tell em to read the manual.
noobies are the ones who have not or have only barely played the game and charge head first into the enemies without a gunner or take helicopters and smash them into walls by taking off to early and keep doing it.
then they get angry when you tell em they should go to a training server.

What about that deep BF2 Vanilla voip "commanders" voice that would be really annoing and tell you what to do?
Is that hardcoded?
Also, im still sad, as i havent recived the xfire link yet, to the PR community?

Wiki's in the pipe line, along with a few other things.
@everyone - We have and have had an official realitymod YouTube channel for well over a year. Events are run exceptionally well by the Events Team. Meanwhile, the Devs work on building the next version of the mod, NOT babysitting the people who play it. With all due respect to the community, that's why server admins are so important, and why a server's game/attitude rules are final as far as we're concerned (one of the reasons we will not allow server bitching here).
If you want to REALLY make a difference, become an exporter and come get a job

exports a model (per say) from a modelling app like 3ds max and into the bf2 editor, then code the new asset into PR

Im sure its been said before and there are many problems that would prevent this but..... I would love to have a buddy list in-game. I have meet several high quality squad leaders and squad mates that, if I had the time, I would have gotten their info (Xfire, Vent, TS). But often times the map changes or they get disconnected an I dont see them again.
