Yeah I realised that it wasnt possible to do that to the carrier.

But what I could do, is make it look like bits have fallen off, metal hanging off the side and in the water, scattered all around.

How about instead of MEC or Insurgents, why not make it China? British forces vs China, U.S. Marines vs China? China would probably be more...plausible...to attacking India. Plus, there's not very many heavy Urban maps for the Chinese Faction, there's Qwai which is somewhat urban, but mostly the maps are farm fields and jungle.

Having it docked is cool, but ill leave that idea for later. It doesnt fit in well with this map.



The alternative for the MEC map would be this:

With the USMC Carrier/British base in the bottom right corner, and the MEC base above the bottom left corner, near the yellowish rectangles.
This would be much more to scale, but still not completly accurate.


The port the map will feature is actually Kandla Port, the second largest in India. :lol:
So the Map should actually be called "Kandla Port", "Port Kandla", or "Kandla Docks", as Gandhi Dam is hardly part of the map.

Let this be a lesson to you all, RESEARCH, then come up with a name.


It will be a 2km map, but wont have the play area streching to the border.


The reason the MEC are there?
They have invaded this region of India. Not necessarily all of India, but this part, as it is not very central.

Im just starting the basic terrain in BF2 Editor now...
While PR is about realism u can still make a map of any location in the world and play pretty much any factions you want within reason. I think you need to stop thinking of ur map as "being in india" just like the mogadishu map in PR.... Its now called Ramiel and has Iraqi insurgents.. You are limiting your choices atm by worrying about factions. Go with the docked carrier idea. Do it well as no one else has done it yet.

Progress report :m1helmet:

Finished the terrain editing, now Ill place all the objects, and then paint. :razz:

It may not look that great in the city area, but I have varied the terrain height for different areas.

Im thought this out and have decided to have the US main across the river (see the 4th pic down), and have the carrier almost central in the map. The carrier will be cappable (like outpost in Kongreal Valley), giving the US some sort of transport next to the carrier if they cap, and the same for the insurgents.

The US will get probably a transport chopper (and maybe a littlebird), 2 LAVs and maybe a boat or two on the shore.

So to recap, the story of the map is that the carrier got bombed, limps over to the closest port, and while there gets attacked by local insurgents.
Meanwhile reinforcments come to help take back the carrier and stop the insurgent attacks.

Im still not sure if I'll be using US or British, I think that it makes more sense for it to be US with the carrier, but if you think you can persuade me otherwise go ahead.
The insurgents BTW will be Iraqi Insurgents.

Let me know what you think, post up any suggestions.

Im still not sure if im going to keep the carrier. Its in the map, but its VERY likely to be taken OUT.

BTW, this is not the part of the docks that has cranes, this is the part that has ships docked to be refueled and such.

why? its just a static, and its not even used in any map in pr currently.

anyway good job so far Vapoman, its looking good. I'd say get started on placing the dock statics around the coast, get the hard part out of the way.

Well why would it be docked if MEC would be there who are a proper whoper army and defintly would able to make the carrier sink with some super de duper anti uss esex blow upper.

What if it was unloading supplies and stuff, and during its short stay at the docks the MEC snuck up to it using super ninja recon.

The map name is now...

Kandla docks


I've decided to use the actual name of the place its based on, instead of Kandala Docks, as I thought it sounded to much like Karbala. :razz:

Ill get some new screenies up soon. You can see a bit in my updated sig.

For now are a couple of pictures of Port Kandla itself:
