Okay, Virginia, if the Cobra squad is down, AT LEAST THEIR HELPING THE TEAM, They mightn't died because of numerous reason,(knowing Tango and Future, probably didn't do hot at all) but at least their helping the team. There's a squad name after asset rule. Read it. Follow it. Don't like it? Leave.

Jedi interrupted me singing along to Shine on you crazy diamond in OD-S ESFs mumble channel to tell me this earlier, he seemed thoroughly pissed off

Since yesterday I too have seen a shed load of greifers and idiots on numerous servers, I've not had one good round for 2 days now

Dude my point is that there are two cobra squads.... If they really want to help their team one of them would disband....

Well, I find that some players act like complete retards sometimes.. I hate new players who think taking a APC or something armor-ish out alone is 1337 like how Vanilla was...

As long as we are getting more players, the fanbase will grow ;)

dont worry, in a few days when school starts up again, the smacktard count will drop dramatically.

Yeah....
But it'll start up again at about 3:30 in the afternoon! ;-)

So we teach. And we wait. And some of us ban.

And those who are left when it's all said and done are another generation ready to pick up arms and fight for their virtual country.

Cherish new players. Most of them are good and ready to learn, they are just so used to the vbf2 style of play that they carry it with them. A few stern words and a good example help set these people straight pretty quick.

And there are banhammers for those unwilling to play nicely :P

I like what Mat552 had to say. I'd like to bring another article up for discussion:

Could it be that we don't have enough GOOD moderators to mind the games? Heck, I don't know, as I'm still playing PRSP until I can afford a better machine... :o ops:

Could it be that there is too much leniency?
I suggest that it should be made clear to anyone logging on at any time to any server, that [smacktard] behavior will not be tolerated and could cause termination of the smacktards login privilege for at least 30 days...and then follow through...

Are the regular players being consistent in not putting up with smacktards? Are they just picking up and leaving the field in frustration? Are they responding in kind?

If smacktards meet with little resistance, where's the motivation to stop acting like an ***? If Regulars are giving up, or worse, responding in kind, the smacktards win. :-(

What i have noticed is that we lack good squad leaders, they are the core group of players who determines how well teamwork works or doesnt work. Got my theories why situation is what it is but what does everyone else think ? Do we lack good squad leaders or is it just me ? =)

Last night a guy called Bahulic or something similar came on to the UKWF server, created a squad called LOLHAX, then he proceeded to get in helicopters fly them above the muttrah carrier and bail, letting them fall and kill everyone.
Also once he created his squad other squads became disbanded with even the SL's being kicked from the squads that they created, the commander was also repetadly kicked from his post.
Since none of the UKWF admins were on he proceeded to ruin the game for a while before dissconnecting, after he left no problems were encountered.
Yea i do think its becuase the vBF2 hackers and noobs have joined since their things work on pr.
I think we have loads on good SL's in the game and dont think thats the main problem.

I now feel very guilty for doing so, please find it in your heart to forgive me.

We seem to lack good leaders, for instance many a time I was torn between SLing the only competent infantry squad and having no transport, or flying a chopper PROPERLY but having no good infantry. It's an impossible decision.

Is this a discussion about actual grievers that teamkill, waste and ruin everyone's day or people who have no idea about the mod and all of your "responsibilities, teamwork, asset importance" stuff and just want to play?

Because those are not the same and you keep putting them in the same basket.

Well, there's one reason why they get away with it often... :o ops:

Then Jedi said - "We seem to lack good leaders, for instance many a time I was torn between SLing the only competent infantry squad and having no transport, or flying a chopper PROPERLY but having no good infantry. It's an impossible decision."

But is it? It would depend on what your intention is... If it were to lead a squad, there was one available, but it didn't need a SL since it was competent. If it were to fly, you passed up a good opportunity to support that squad and others. If it were to teach, there was at least a squad of "no good infantry" available.

My point is that this thread, and other similar ones, illustrate a lack of consistency on the part of many experienced player, as well as the Moderation/Administration of same. If there were established a consistent manner of dealing with the 'Tards, we could move on to what Outlaw alluded to - that is taking advantage of new players that aren't familiar with the regs, and bringing them into the fold. There IS a difference between them and the 'Tards. Now I know I'm sticking my neck out being as I have no experience with administering a game, or leading a squad online, but I'd like to suggest the beginning of an S.O.P. for SL's and Regulars to deal with the 'Tard menace; perhaps with a simple, organized, brainstorming session. I think that with this we can begin to establish some consistency, whereby there is cohesion between the work that the Admin/Mod does, and the "field administrators".

1.5 won't have anything to do with it. Someone who hasn't downloaded a 1.9 gb patch isn't gonna go and download 15 gigs of mod to play with, and when you made the thread, the patch had only been out for 29 hours.

Ther is a private server admin forum which lists the GUIds and usernames of all the smacktards- it's over 100 pages long. Making another admin group wont solve the problem if people want to be a smacktard then getting some people reporting them isnt going to stop them. Also as these people would have no admin rights on servers then they cant do anything about the players. As soon as a player finds out he's on the blacklist then he would just change his username and keep on doing it. Even if this player is reported it just means that for anything to happen we'd have to look up his player hash etc which just takes time. So altho in a perfect world this would be a good idea practically i dont think it would work.

1. Noobs tend to go on fiilled servers as they think there's the action- that way it's hard for them to learn. And they come in bigger numbers but not often from communities where experienced players train them before. It should be made clearer, that it's better to go for a Training Server first.

2. There are a lot of good SL - even if you're a stranger to them they'll see if you're going Teamwork and lead you well. Normally i go with community mates but sometimes they aren't around and then it's a real pleasure to be in a squad with strangers acting well like it was on Skyttegrav tonight even after a smacktard messed us up...but there are not enough commanders, so often 2 squads doing the work and the rest are fiddling around...

3. I experienced good server admins the last weeks on the favourite EU servers! But do never change map while round is going on! ;-)

4. There will always be smacktards - kick and ban - have fun and play

5. Some people are acting smacktard cuz being Teamswitched out of Squads even with same Tags...that happens to often...

I hope it's going to be better, updates sure will help
