Yeah as far as 3rd person I suppose my main issue is in bf42 you can throw c4 in the road (like basrahs edge) and then get up on the seconde floor and change to 3rd person view to see your c4 int he road. You can kill the tank without ever have to put yourself at risk (aside from infantry coming in the building).
BFV doesn't allow 3rd person infantry view, so I would assume Bf2 would do that same? Either way an "out of body experiance" is not so realistic. It's going to be tough balancing just how realistic vs game play in this mod.

Bfv didn't allow 3rd person, yes, but the branch of Dice who is making Bf2(sweden made bf1942) is not the same branch that made bfv(canada made bfv) and that means that there might be a chance that we will have 3rd person views for the soldier(the sweden developer made 42 and are making bf2).Hoss wrote:BFV doesn't allow 3rd person infantry view, so I would assume Bf2 would do that same? I know the point of this mod is to make things realistic, and that the most of us want total realism. But if it's only the hardcore realitylovers that play the mod there won't be a lot of servers to chose from. So it has to be realistic, but also fun to play. Therefore, 3rd person view should be a server option but not standard. Maybe there could be some kind of icon that shows if 3rd person view is enabled on a certain server.

But if bf2 is as huge as it claims to be their will hardly be hand to hand combat. Apart from the rair occasion of knifing a sniper thats been camping your base for the past 20 minutes.
And they are hardly going to spot you because they are in stealth mode.
Anyway if you ARE going to get rid of third person theres no lean and it would be unrealistic to check a corner where you recon an enemy is by running in and blasting your gun at the enemy for cover fire...for yourself. And hell if lean is possible LEan is so crappy in games its not even worth doing as most of the time the camera only tilts rather then letting you see around a corner. Which again is unrealistic sine in real life you are free to controll your whole body unlke in a game where you are stuck standing upright.
Server side option should be the best way.
All they have to do is:
BF2:Realism jolt.co.uk FF :O n 3rd :O n
Which is hardly...hard.

This dosn't make sense either./\ Your saying they wont spot you if they are in stealth mode? Oooookayyyyy.......
....hahaha stealth mode? what the bloody hell?
I can only presume that i meant there is hardly any need for stealth as heâ$™s going to be staring down the barrel of his sniper rifle.
As for lean. No i did not think it could be implemented in bf2.
The infantry in BF1942 are hardly customisable and no really big changers were really applied in any mod that makes the infantry revolutionary. So i did not expect it to be implemented.
I also donâ$™t understand how you can know it can be implemented as bf2 is not out...though thinking about it bf2 might even have the lean feature implemented..
Going on to hand combat.
No, i donâ$™t believe it will be a big thing. Quite simply as a said before the maps will be so large one bullet kills and there will be a lot of vehicles to get around in.
I cant think of one time you would need a knife instead of a pistol even in a realism game modification. Only time i have seen melee action actually used in a realism game is in WW2 games where you have single shot rifles. Since after you miss you need to load and the enemy has the change to take out his pistol and fill you with lead. But this instantly does not become the case when they have semi auto or fully automatic weapons. Hell even if there single fire gun loads fast its instantly outclasses melee weapons.
Anyhoo sure Iâ$™d like to see a scenario that you would actually need to use melee action.
And having no ammo is not a good reason

well then, I do this all the time, how about walking(sneaking, whatever) into a CP where there are several enemies and an armor unit. You see one alone, run up behind him, knife him and procede on to the next(seeing how this mod stated it wanted to eliminate death tags no one would know how he died or who killed him). Depending where the other players are someone could continue using the knife before using c4 to destroy the tank(given they use enough of it)CHIKEN wrote: Anyhoo sure Iâ$™d like to see a scenario that you would actually need to use melee action.

^^^ There is your reason, an army of one capturing a CP^^^

Also noting to that, the enemy forces would be oblivious to the fact anyone has died in the first place (at their base, unless they saw the body or the actual kill), meaning that the operative could continue his mission undetected, until of course after 'x' amount of time the deceased respawn (none of that, I just killed the guy and whoop there hes again (respawned) and now he mows me down, because he saw where I was....).

Soemthing that goes with the silent killings conversation...
I've seen tournament maps for DC and POE where they have flags that you can't spawn into. That may be cool and a small twist. It forces the team to reinforce, and not just Rambo style in defence. If you die you have to go to a base in the rear and make your way back.

I say no views other than first person for the realism mod, ie it is not realistic to detach your eyes and have them float 30 behind you and in the air, which is what is happening. I would only say f10 view for infantry if the seeing out of nipples thing isnt fixed, it is very useful in fh to figure out if you are hiding behind a bush or sticking halfway out between it, somethign you would easliy be able to determine irl, but not so much with the crappy views.
Also, it would be very nice to add your legs and torso when you look down, like (i know, gasp) Halo 2.
