I read in another forum that the guy he was shooting at may have been another support class, which has the highest armor rating, but hey....armor cant take that many rounds.

Maybe I was wrong about the M203 then. And yea, that guy should have died faster by the SAW, you can see all the bullets hitting him. I'm looking forward to the realism PR is gonna add.

I think the SAW being fired from a standing position gives him less accuracy so a lot of the rounds didn't hit him. I dunno, that's my two cents.

well dont you hate it when you try and prove a point but then you prove your self wrong lol here it goes
no matter how much armor you have a bullet should be able to knock you down.
but remember that bank robing thing(dont remember when i was very young) well the bank robbers were so straped up in armor that bullets were flying all over the place and cops had to brake into a local gun shop to get higher caliber rifles. (i know cause history channel owns all)

But if you really do have THAT mcuh armour on what it does is spreads the impact all around the area rather then giving you a pin prick of pure pain(!!). Thus making it much easier to resist the great force applied to you.. as its turned into one large weaker force......right?
Atleast I think thats right.

yea your right the force is spread out but were talking about a saw which is
http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/m249.htm and well i am sorry nobody can stand 1-2 shots with that babby i dont care how much armor you got on ya. but a pistol from very very far away posible you can withstand it but then like solo said ribs and such should break lets remind our self its a bullet traveling x speeds and stoping on YOUR body.

Far as I know they don't issue different grades of armor based on your MOS...
Pistol shots are going to be iffy, I have seen videotape of a television reporter being shot with a 32 ACP handgun at 5 yards distance while wearing a 2nd Chance bulletproof vest. The reporter screamed, cursed, staggered a bit but remained on his feet, dumb idiot thought getting shot on tv would make a good story.
The more you go up in weapons the greater velocities behind those bullets, I would say the chances of remaining on your feet when a 223 or 7.62 Soviet ball round hits you are remote.

No, they don't. The only troops who might are special operations forces on a CQB/direct action operation. Prior to the Interceptor vest being issued to most US infantry troops, the 75th Ranger Regiment had its own proprietary body armor (Ranger Body Armor) that it issued rather than the old PASGT (Personal Armor System for Ground Troops) shrapnel vests seen in ODS and that are now being broken out of the stockpiles. As far as I know, RBA is still being used by some elements; it's heavier, but performance is comparable to the Interceptor with high velocity trauma plates from what I understand.

haha, well i wasnt saying a body suit could keep you up after being hit by a 249...since most probably you will have been hit by multiple bullets rather then a single.
...Though it also matters what type of armour they are using. If its a something like kevlar compared to a plank of titanium sure you'll get some broken ribs. If your wearing a titanium suit or something itl just bounce off you. As you also need to remember that this bullet weigs practically nothing...so if there is no penetration as soon as it touches the armour. Instead of bending in its going to bounce that little baby away. Providing its not hitting at 90 degrees....otherwise your going on a good ol' pain trip.
-edit-
what person stood up after being hit with an automatic weapon anyway? Are we talking about the bf2 video? I kinda got lost in the body armour talk.

Still, I don't think it matters a ton wether your hit 1 time or a couple times. Sure itl hurt more and such, but 1 round will still be a pretty big force.
Actually the cermamic plates used are a one time only thing. Once they are hit
they shatter to disperse the force.

Yes I definantly agree. It would makit it alot more realistic. Instead of getting hit, and it shows your player just jerk a little and keep going (which dosn't even effect your accuracy) that you maybe should fall or at least stumble a little.
Evenwhile I was playing paintball, I felt almost forced to fall one time when I was hit in the upper leg within 10ft away. I tried to stay up but I fell down on that knee for a few second.
BTW,
I wish I could see that vid. Very Happy Still know where it is by any chance?
Agreed, stumbling around from the force of a bullet slamming into your body would be a bit more realisitic, definately would affect accuracy of shooting and probably making it a percentage more difficult for incoming shots aimed at the PC... after all their erratic movements are not precise.
The video was on one of those Funniest video specials from the 1980's (you know the one's with **** Clark and Ed McMahon), wish I could tell you which and more about the clip. I rememeber watching it at the time and thinking what an idiot the guy was... even back then I knew body armor stopped the bullet from penetrating your flesh but it still could not stop the energy dump from the bullet from hurting you.

Which could be translated into the game easily as your armor grade protection goes down in protection levels if the plate is destroyed... probably it would be doable to have replacement plates at various points on a map but that's a bit too relaistic probably for some folk.

Well something we all can agree is on is that BF2 continues its arcade gameplay from its predecessors and the realism modifications will continue by talented developers to please those realism junkies.

And another thing, I don't believe it will "bounce off". Every video I have ever seen shows the round flattened and stuck to the object it impacted. I will say this one more time, no matter what armour you have, the round will hit with the same force. You will still get knocked around by it even if you are not internally wounded.
When i said bounce off i was merely talking about a bullet proof material rather then body armour. Like some kind of metal body suit. Rather then bullet resisting armour should i say. As i think most body armours tend to get hard under great ammounts of pressure right? allowing you to bend them to a decent fit in your suit but when a bullet hits it stops it and or gets it stuck in your suit.
The only time a bullets going to bounce off armour is when that armour is so rigidly hard theres no chance of penetration. And thats hardly going to ever happen on a curved body armour type suit.
Also one or two bullets hitting you make a very big difference. If you were to get a car and ram it into ... i dunno a coach... it would move say X distance but if two cars hit it thats double the force applied to the coach thus moving it pretty close to double X distance.
Come to think about it... If you had a guy holding onto... i dunno a slab of some kinf of un penetratable armour suspended him over say 3 7.62 caliber automatic machine guns and shot at him....would you be able to suspend him in the air? Or would that not give enough power to pick up a human?
I'm just trying to judge exactly how much energy these guns pack im not going to try it any time soon
