Re: What happened to Mumble?
I think gimmicky is not a fair answer. It still works really well when using it. If anything I would say convenience has dropped the popularity over some simple gimmick. Players are lazy and/or cant be bothered to alt-tab out, which is understandable.

haha TS is worst voice communication client ever, worst audio, biggest pings just a ****. DEVs of mumble are focusing on best ping and best quality of audio, and it works, mumble has the best AUDIO ever. Ventrilo is good to, but team speak ...

Re: What happened to Mumble?
The sound quality for me in mumble is s*it. Everyone's sounds are crackling / ratling and it's very irritiating to listen to. And before you say "you fail", it's a very common problem with that program.Megagoth1702 wrote:Jeez.
There are still people saying that TS is better then mumble. Can't believe that.
.
And I'm not saying the sound quality in Teamspeak (which we use in the Tournament) is better but it doesn't crack all the time so I can understand something from it.

There is a loss of population in overall PR not only mumble.

I always check here before booting up the game. And the auto-join feature is also nice to get into the server you want.Wh33lman wrote: Tell me, how many times do you know exactly what server your going to join BEFORE your start PR?

Re: What happened to Mumble?
Actually the answer for me was 100% of the time. I always either join TG/RT because I'm guarenteed a good game there with good players or I join the server with teh most mumblers.Wh33lman wrote: Tell me, how many times do you know exactly what server your going to join BEFORE your start PR?
The answer is(unless your in a clan), almost never.

Lol... why is everyone talking as if mumble suddenly ended and no one ever goes on RT any more?
A few days of low activity isn't the end.

Re: What happened to Mumble?
I still see high numbers in mumble, whenever I am playing usually lots are in TG mumble or RT mumble, and if I ask players we can fill out a full squad in mumble on servers like chicago or virginia...

"You fail" is a kiddie answer, we are in PR forums here, mister.Zi8 wrote:The sound quality for me in mumble is s*it. Everyone's sounds are crackling / ratling and it's very irritiating to listen to. And before you say "you fail", it's a very common problem with that program.
Stuttering sound? What system you run mumble on? On XP there is a setting called "Output Delay". In the XP Audio Wizard you are asked to move a slider to a point where there is no stuttering.
So if you use XP you might wanna check that.

Re: What happened to Mumble?
The crackling is because you have it configured to be great quality and fast response and if you don't have the bandwith or speed, it will do that.Zi8 wrote:The sound quality for me in mumble is s*it. On "Audio Input" tweak the "Quality" and "Audio per packet" settings to decrease the kbit/s.
On "Audio Output" tweak "Default Jitter Buffer" and "Output Delay" and increase the ms values.
About Mumble being empty, it must be the time and server I play on (TG), but I played the last 2 days with almost full squad in Mumble and several other squad leaders as well (up to 6 squads). Cooperation between transport, CAS and other infantry squads, worked great.

Re: What happened to Mumble?
personaly, i was never a fan. too much voip at some points was supassing the enjoyment level. i think the program is great.... but the human factor can distroy it quickly. and until the players can be modded, or PR is relaesed with a version of mumble that is installed with the correct settings for all players it will be "ONLY' used by some some players. i think the theory is good, but communisim was too when it was thought of.[R-DEV]CodeRedFox wrote:I think gimmicky is not a fair answer. Re: What happened to Mumble?
a mute keybind helps with that, and the few problems it has are far surpassed by the amazing gameplay you get with it, which cant be achieved on a public server with any other 3rd party program(or lack of).
the games on RT are the best games ive ever had on PR.

Re: What happened to Mumble?
You can use this to fix the alt tabbing problem:
BF2 alt tab fix
I'm not really that involved with RT or PR anymore - I've lost interest in spending my free time and money on it, due to threats and comments from some members of the PR team. I'll be leaving it to other members of RT to push the PR side of things.
I'm planning to run some "Operation Flashpoint : Dragon Rising" servers for the Reality Teamwork Community, so Ill be much more involved with that - its highly likely that mumble will be adapted for OFP: DR soon after its release, so hopefully we can do some mumbling on there
