I disagree; it's neither the engine or the modders -- we're working in two dimensions with a limited field of view and NO spatial perception (which is a combination of tactile, auditory and balance) -- take it from a guy who studies close order arts; you can't do melee in such a situation.

I can see what you mean. I get where you're coming from though, which is why I have a lot of respect for modders as the problems they're tackling are huge. I just personally don't like the feel of the source engine, never have. But I did like the goldsrc engine quite a lot

From my experience, goldsrc and Source have the same problems -- level size limit is too low, players / server is too low, and the tools are a pain in the ***.
