That's an L85A2 RAC, the carbine version developed for the Royal Armoured Corps for them to carry in their tanks. Most troops don't use foregrips.gazzthompson wrote:

did you even look at the links gazz provided?Herbiie wrote:No I am talking about the RAC Carbine. As a member of the Royal Armoured Corps methinks me knows.
We all know what the L22A1 carbine is and the differences between that and the SA80a2, Mr Thompson has posted sources to back that up (kinda) that I can also perform with a quick google search to find it but I can't seem to find this 'RAC Carbine' you're on about. I can't see any info about any variants called the 'RAC Carbine' in the SA80 family.Herbiie wrote:No I am talking about the RAC Carbine. As a member of the Royal Armoured Corps methinks me knows.

Yes I did it showed piccys. Pictures of what is even called in the last 1 an RAC.Element66 wrote:did you even look at the links gazz provided?

As an Infantry Support Plt Sgt and SAA Instructor with 16AA having done a few years myself, I'm telling you that you're wrong. That is the L85A2 with the new RIS (with foregrip come bipod) that replaces the previous green plastic front handgrip, along with the ACOG, currently deployed (since HERRICK 8 ) to all teeth arms units in theatre.Herbiie wrote:No I am talking about the RAC Carbine. It si slightly (SLIGHTLY) shorter than a standard L85A2 so therefore is a carbine - and also has rails on. it's called an L85 A2 RAC, originally designed for the Royal Armoured Corps it's now being distributed to some other poor buggers.
Say no more[R-DEV]Gaz wrote:As an Infantry Support Plt Sgt and SAA Instructor with 16AA having done a few years myself, I'm telling you that you're wrong. L22A1's barrel would end where the L85A2's new RIS system ends. There is no such weapon in any British Armoury that goes by the name, or indeed designation of ''L85A2 RAC".

Just read the thread and you shall have your answer[R-DEV]Gaz wrote: We are looking into overhauling the L85A2s, however it's not within 0.9's scope.
