This has happened since i patched to 1.5, ive not enough memory or but the 1 thing doin my fckin head in is why did you have to make 0.87
Its not us. Its a 1.5 thing with BF2. Basically 1.5 has been patched so that it can use more than 2gb of RAM. Unfortunately you don't have more than 2GB so I am guessing that this is why you are crashing.
I dont know how you make the virtual memory go bigger
Right click MyComputer>>Properties
Then go to the Advanced Tab and click Performance settings
Then Advanced tab again, Virtual Memory click Change.
Under custom size you can set your own size, and set the min and max to the same and make them 4 gb.
The other option there is to let windows handle it for you.

You will probably have to contact EA about that to be honest. I am pretty sure its a memory issue, but its likely that only they will be able to understand the dump file.

Because 0.86 did not work with BF2 1.5. BF2 1.5 will allow the use of more than 2GB of ram by the game engine.
I mean I don't know what safety checks that they put in there for people who are only running 2GB of ram ... to stop them running out of addressable memory space. Or if the 1.5 patch was made with people running on Vista64 and Win7 in mind (hence much larger addressable memory space).
You
might solve your problem by sticking another gig of ram in your machine ... but I really cannot guarantee that would be the case.
Why you can create a local server fine ... well ... you got me there too
I didn't write the BF2.exe ... all I wrote was a shell that does some file management and then launches BF2
