I used to have it on ultra high (set at 4 with notepad
), but I've heard that you can't do this anymore with bf2 1.5. Is this true? My graphics don't seem to look as good.

iirc setting '4' in the file manually actually had no change in game than high.RELEASE_THE_KRAKEN wrote:I used to have it on ultra high (set at 4 with notepad), but I've heard that you can't do this anymore with bf2 1.5. Is this true? My graphics don't seem to look as good.
I can run on high at about 40~fps, but stuff like smoke nades and some unoptimized areas of maps I just drop in so I run on mostly med/high to make it easier to play.

Just in time for my upgrade. My system went boom and I got a new mainboard with onboard radeon 3200 hd a cpu and 4 gigs of ram for 225 Euro and I can play most maps on high.
I havent tried setting textures to medium yet, to see if it helps on fools road or ramiel.
I might get a radeon 5850 later on, then everything will be on high and the grafic board laughing at it.

Everything high except textures on medium to avoid CTD bug when loading a new map. I get 70+ FPS on every map with the exception of West Fallujah and Korengal Valley where it dips to the 40-50 level occasionally.

The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end... "

Medium on everything except 2 (shadows and geometries I think). Voted low on last polls as only terrain and textures were on medium.

All high
8X AA
1920 X 1200
Does this mean the DEVs might just do what I wished and add some sort of MD5 check or make the game auto set everybody to "Medium or above" GFX setting? Because I would sure hope so. For the players here who don't know. Playing on low GFX setting give said players the ability to see things that players on High setting can not. IE: see pass/into smoke, grass not rendering and so players on High setting think they are in cover but are in fact not and so on. There is even a container on Fools road (so I am told) that is white on low setting but on high setting, it is red.
I Would love for this to happen as it would level the playing field so much. I Am sick of low GFX users getting all the advantages. Now before any says STFU. I Am talking about players that set their GFX settings to low even when they have a PC that can more than handle "All High" settings. For them that don't have a PC that can run BF2/PR all high. It's really about time to upgrade. The game itself is what? 5 years old? Surly you can splash out on a 6600GT or above and run all high like I used too.

Re: [New for 2010!] Which level of graphics settings do you play?
All Medium with AA x4 and 1280x1024@60Hz, around 30-90 FPS, my GPU can run higher with same FPS, but the rest of my PC can't and I start stuttering/lagging. Also running Med to avoid memory crashes, mostly on Fallujah before 1.5
