I was mechianised soldier with a carl gustaf grenade rifle (14kg, 18 with laser weapon combat training equipment version) and a AK5(4.5 kg, more like 5kilso with laser training equipment) and i tell you it does not slow you that much, if it is straped on right on your back it is alright.

When i was just had to carry the AT4 i was quite happy since it is so light. Also as other have said there are no pure riflemens in a modern army!

You always carry something else, most commonly a Law, mines, big *** radio, marksman weapon, machinegun, ammo for the AT/SMAW weapons, or other fun things.
