UV MAP= An overlay on where the textures you create will go
That is a basic representation of the 3d Model on a 2d Map.
So when I create the texture, I use the UVMap to position my texture properly. Everyone does it differently :)

Is it possible to import stuff you made in 3ds max 2010 into BF2?!
I'm pretty sure you can only use 3ds max 9 for it.

A UV map translates points from the 3D model into points on a 2D texture sheet. The model is "unwrapped", (like unfolding a cardboard box) into a flat shape. This shape then becomes the surface on which the texture is created.

I know everybody already answered your question, but if you ever wanted to see one, theres an Easter Egg in the Merlin. if you get inside it and pull out your binoculars, theres a small bumb in the middle of the floor.

as for the pipe, maybe it could be used as a debris object on a map.

I believe I can upload a .obj.... I use 3ds max 2010 yes but most if not all programs will use .obj files.
