Good call. Acquired at Best Buy this A.M. and downloading patches now. Thanks.

I hope you bought just base BF2, the booster packs are not worth buying anymore since they included the booster content with the 1.5 patch for free.

Plain-Jane BF2 for $10. Just finished downloading the 1.5 patch and should be in game soon.

Please note that you need to install the Full 1.41 patch before you install 1.5.

Yes, I hate it when people tell new players "just install the 1.5 patch and you're good!" when you have to install 1.41 first.

If you've already made that mistake, just uninstall BF2, then reinstall, and then apply the patches in correct order, and you should be fine.

Welcome to PR, have a great time!

I wonder if that's why it's crashing at start-up since loading the 1.5 patch. Back to square one...

If it's PR your Res. might be too low. needs to be at 1024x768 iirc.

Couldn't even load BF2 after installing the 1.5 patch. I read about resolution/refresh problem, but my desktop is at 60hz (what it needs to be for BF2 apparently) and I hadn't made any changes to it since installing.

Installed from disc, ran game to check version number and exited without going into Options. Installed 1.5, boom. Can't get into game anymore.

Trying 1.41 now.

Tried it in Compatibility Mode (running Windows 7 x86) and no joy.

install->reboot->install 1.41->install 1.5->install core 0.87->install levels 0.87

I had some probs with running BF2 1.41 on win7 x86, when I ran it, it showed a black screen for a few secs and then crashed w/o any error. Fixed this buy going to my documents -> battlefield 2 -> profiles -> default -> Open video.con and erase the resolution line.
Hope it helped if thats ur issue, good luck, welcome to PR :D

i am running PR on windows 7 64 bit right now not even using compatibility mode. on full settings and it is all fine maybe you patched it wrong or check res sometimes it crashes when resolution is too high happened to me a couple times

community is good and is going to get even better once the new .9 version comes out

PR won best mod in 2008

Installing 1.41 first worked like a charm. Thanks for the tip.

That's exactly why.

No, it's because of the patch.

Just reinstall the game, like you did, and it fixes everything. Glad I could help.

cool looks like the problem is fixed don't forget to look at PR manual sometimes also gets some flying lessons because you are going to need them in PR and if it is your first time playing BF2 then learn how to fly in BF2 because it is a little tricky and takes time to get used to

That was one release and is not longer a problem.

Don't forget the 1.5 alt-tab fix since they broke that in the latest patch too.

http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/battlefield-2/804570-battlefield-2-update-1-50-alt-tab-fix.html

If you don't have it the game will freeze as soon as you try to alt-tab.

Welcome to the community Headcase_Fargone :)

I recommend a good server like Tactical Gamer, T&T or HARDCORE servers, and make sure you join a squad, let the squad leader know your knew and alot of times you can get some useful help :)

Reading the manual also helps but is not essential.

Let us know what you think, many of the devs are definitely big fans of infiltration and what that mod did with weapons handling was just phenomenal... PR does not have nearly the same level in that regard (not because the PR team is lazy but because of constraints by the BF2 engine), but youll see theres alot of other great gameplay to be had :)

Played a few games last night. The biggest thing to get used to is uniforms looking identical for the opposing team. Every time I pull the trigger I'm wondering if I'm shooting a friendly or not.

I'm still trying to figure out certain aspects like why sometimes my rifle is on burst or full auto and sometimes it's on semi. Little things like that.

As far as what's missing from Infiltration, the first thing I noticed was weapon collision detection. And while nice it's certainly not necessary.

Good mod so far though. I'm just scratching my head as to how I'm only just now hearing about it.

If you check where it says how many mags you have left there'll be a "1" "3" or "A" meaning single shot, burst, and automatic :P
