ummm ??
you seem to greatly overestimate the bf2 engine, the ropes seem to be very basic. when connected they are solid and players dont effect them in anyway. i highly doubt abseilin would be possible but ill leave that upto some on who knows coding etc.

Anyways this thing is obviously something that is hardcoded and completely useless.
Edit: one thing i will not tolerate is people like you talking like that to a dev that has also spent alot more time in the forums than you...
Well someone with a vast amount of knowledge on the subject as of yet hasn't put a word in, so we're not 100% sure that its impossible. I'm still waiting on the source that proves that militaries use abseiling in combat situations.

Talking like that to a dev? If I'm not going to stand up for useless spam like that,
who is? I for one am surprised he makes posts like the aforementioned without being disciplined. Poor form if those who spend so much time trying to can it and avoid things like that plaguing this community are the ones themselves committing it eh?
Or I'm sorry, since I haven't been on these forums as you or him (< logically impossible, I'll let you figure out that one for yourself) have I missed some part where those who have a large post count or have put effort into this mod can needlessly spam and derail threads?
Look at his post for a moment. Study it, if you will. What benefit did it bring? In what way at all did he ratify, criticize, or add anything constructive to what this guy was trying to suggest? I'll tell you: nothing. And that fact is simply undeniable.
I tell you what, I'll start respecting people like you and him, when I see you add something constructive. If you really have this many problems with my posts, you'd report me wouldn't you? Reporting me for highlighting spam. Excellent work.

Will ya ever stop the more or less spammy complaining on everybodys post?
If you wish to start telling people to stop de-railing threads, how about stopping it yourself first?
I for one allready stated clearly my oppinion on my earlier post that the suggestion is hardcoded and more or less useless. Oh and im not going to continue this never ending struggle whit you and here by stop posting in answer to yours

Lol, why ask questions if you don't want to hear the answers?
Signals the lock of the thread. Answers have more or less been given.

Watch yo selves foos, get back on topic, or a MOD will be angry, and you won't like the MODs when they're angry!
Also, it's not worth the effort to animate proper abseiling at the moment, when there are a lot more important things that will add a lot more to PR still waiting to be done.

"abseilen" is actually the German word for it. Literally "to rope down". Is also used as an euphemism for taking a dump.

Yeah, it's German. The Dutch often use the word "abseilen" as well though.

maybe like, when you press jump while going down the rope, you could do a little hop and go down
I could be made like it is with the ladders now. Like when you press shift you slide down. Only problem there is that you cannot stop the ladder sliding.
We need the stop sliding option at the ladders as well though imo. But it´s probably hardcoded.

i hope that inspires some one to step up and take the fight to the enemy fight. we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender to HARDCODEING
(what is a hard code?)
ive said my piece
Nice argumentation
Whatsoever I would say it's not relevant for the gameplay and so I agree to Scot. Absolutely unnecessary!

i believe nothing is imposible especialy when i come to technologie, how this game has develeoped over the years is proof of that. we just need to start now fight the tyriney of Hardcoding let it never darken our door step again
only EA has the source code..
only if someone would hack their servers already or something so the PR team can get their hands on it! or they nicely hand it over.
other then that it wont happen

Rappelling is already in the game. I wanted to write something really sarcastic, but in the interest of being helpful I will just say that going down the grappling rope is probably as close as PR will get to rappelling.
