Maybe not for sustained flight but I'm sure Brummy could give this guy a run for his money:

There are a lot of things helicopters can do in PR that they can't do in reality.

Like that retarded thing where they whiz around in tight circles completely horizonal but don't lose any altitude.

Of course, if I had my way it'd just be Desert Combat's helicopter model. I don't believe it was particularly realistic, but it was a hell of a lot of fun.

Flight physics and handling don't need as much input as you'd think from every specific pilot. If the option is there, however, then awesome. But otherwise there are many people who know pretty well how helicopters work and operate to at least make fair judgements on how they fly. IE, a friend of mine works for Eurocopter Canada and has given me a fair bit of insight on them.

The more specific asset to asset tuning would really be from air speed, maneuverability, and other statistics that would affect flight pattern without the actual handling of the helicopter, and most of that can be found without speaking directly to the pilots.
Well, I know the flight characteristics of helicopters and planes pretty damn good, since the aircraft that I work on is a ******* breed of both (MV-22 Osprey). Tuning can be found by speaking to maintainers of aircraft, but not a whole lot of us have actually FLOWN an aircraft. I've been working on aircraft in the USMC for 2 years and haven't flown on one for a joyride (which they seem to do for a whole lot of people except the ones that work on them), let alone got ahold of the controls.

My opinion is why spend many hours working on implementing realistic flight controls, when the area that aircraft have to fly in is completely unrealistic? Jets can't get to 30K feet in BF2, and the complex controls used in modern aircraft can't be realistically represented in the BF2 engine. I'd love to see ultra-realistic aircraft, but I just don't think it's reasonable to demand a perfect replica F-16 to fly in a 4 km^2 box.

I understand where you are coming from. I highly doubt to see an F-16 get up to 900 knots in this game in the area that it has to fly.

Yer, I meant sustained, because the helicopters with the slinge hard rotor shafts are definitely able to perform maneuvers like that. If I saw Brummy flying like that, though, I'd demand the Muse to be played in the background as well :p

But you can both still admit that helicopters (the subject of the thread, and more specifically the Huey as per the OP) have pretty bad flight physics and could definitely be fixed in many obvious manners. After trying CA's Huey, you'll see what I mean. I haven't been able to go back to PR and fly in.... well forever.
