Think of it as though you are jumping from a very high altitude (which you would do in actual combat) and when you spawn you have already been in freefall for several seconds, so it is time to pull the cord.
Tbh in my view a plane flying at the altitude that you spawn simply wouldn't be realistic.

These questions have to do with the Paratroop gameplay on this map.
1. Is it a plane we will be dropping from or just a spawn point like in the BF vanilla Special forces pack. ( On one of the maps you can spawn about 200 feet in the air to simulate air dropping.)
2. If it is a plane, What type of plane is it and can it be controlled by a pilot ?
3. Can this spawn/plane be destroyed either by AA or the Russian Atack helicopter ?
4. Will all U.S. Kits be recieving a parachute ?
Wait, could someone inform me WTF is going on. I thought I was keeping up with PR, there's gonna be a map with paratroopers?!?!

Indeed there will be. Silent Eagle.

Looking forward to it.
Beats the heck out of that spawn bug on Kashan where players spawned 50 meters up and fell splat on the ground in Mec main.
Hopefully the spawn moves randomly enough to prevent AR duck hunting from below.

I'd like to see what would happen if a helicopter or jet flew into a parachuting person.

If you do that in PR, the game recognizes the parachuting person as just another object, so it's no different than flying your helicopter into a wall or something.
I had someone do that to me with the Mi-28 on Kashan once, after they disabled my Littlebird.
'Twas funny.

Person dies, helicopter/jet continues on. It's like running someone over with your humvee, but in the air

I've seen vBF2 collisions like that. Trust me, the jet didn't continue on

lol unless players want to spend a minute or 2 staring at "nothing" while falling (because in BF2 after a certain altitude the ground fades away because of the "fog of war") thats pretty much the only option.
and you know if its even possible to place the spawn at a realistic altitude without players flying off the side of the map before its even close to time for them to open chutes
@pepsiMachine: yeah it used to work in BF1942 but in BF2 engine, just like in real life, smack into a human body with a tangle of para-cord and your aircraft is only gonna do one thing...fall.

Uh, having a guy run head on into me flying back to base suggests otherwise.

It is a simple moving spawn in the air which will be there all the time and switch its locations automatically.

I read that the spawn moves in a pre-programmed route... so i guess once everyone gets used to the maps we'll see more AR spawn camping

Not 100% sure about this, but I'm pretty sure that in most combat parachuting the chute is pulled as soon as they leave the plane and not done from super high up(atleast in the non elite airborne units). I think only special forces and other similarly trained units do HALO jumps(High Altitude, Low Opening).

I don't know about your country but with combat jumps now a days with infantry is 500 feet. and 1,250 feet in the school and that is considered high.

And the spawn is below both of these heights

Think we'd need a source on that tbh. Not saying you are wrong I just don't know any different and all I am saying is that the spawn simulates that you have already entered freefall and it is now time to pull the chute, not at what height you've dropped originally.
