the radio in 0.9 is used for sls as their is no rps so they wanted to make a need for sls by putting in a radio so they can ask for close air support evacs supplies and so on.

That is incorrect. RP's are still in, just expire after 60 seconds and must be "rearmed" after used.

As the highlight post says, the radios give squad leaders the ability to place map markers and build, in addition to calling in arty/air support.
