Yeah I know right?

You could have an even better computer and still get performance problems, that's weak software for you.

Also the server I've been playing on had alot of stuttering going on in Beirut, the testing server must have been a beast.

Beirut: Looking towards the edge of the map: 100fps,
watching towards the center: <30fps

Yamaila: BRDM zoomed out, 90-100 fps, zoomed in while on a grass field -> 20 fps.
The scenary on that one is just awesome btw.

Quai: 60-100 fps like before.

Those are the 3 maps I've played so far.

EDIT

BF2.exe took 1.8 gb of RAM in Beirut.

Now I changed to medium Textures, doesn't go below 40 so it's playable now. (Beirut)

1.3gb RAM.

EDIT2:

Silent Eagle runs fine though, (if anybody cares... ).

I personally have not had any lag issues, except for a few seconds at one time.

Joeziah wrote:high end graphics cards able to run crysis on extreme graphics have been on the market for 3 years, they are very cheap now. I would assume that taking that into consideration they Upped the performance requirements because the only games who don't have cards that can handle it can certainly afford one now.

you can get a 9800GT or some **** for around 180 bucks or cheaper.

Tigerdirect and Newegg are where you find some of the best deals btw
So you're answer to performance problems is buy an expensive graphics card?

you know some of us have other things to spend our money on rather than our PCs!

I have a triple core, 3gb of ram, an a Geforce 8200 gfz card, and i have to play on low to get an FPS of 60 ffs!

it's playable but I'd just got used to high graphics *sniff*

If you are getting lag, lower your graphics settings for now. I am almost certain this is client side, it fits every characteristic of it. Not everyone is getting the issues and it seems to very on how intensive the map is. Stuff like this takes time. I for one am glad they are pushing the engine instead of the same old thing, hardware will get better. For now if your PC can't handle it just run on lower settings and save some $$

If you are getting CTD's or memory errors its your ram, just get some more. If your getting lag its likely your proccesor. Both these problems can be solved by buying new hardware and lowering your texture and lighting settings, while the latter (in game lag) can be solved specifically by killing background processes, and running something like Game Booster that manages system resource consumption...

Played several hours last night over Basrah(64), Muttrah(Vehicles), Karbala(64) and Beirut(64). Beirut easily showed a performance drop, while it could be my older computer it did crash the server I was on twice while loading/early game (BigD #2). Didn't really notice any performance issues on the older maps but I wasn't really looking for them.

I'm thinking it is something to do with the larger Beirut static buildings, I was walking up and down the stairs on that huge apartment building just west of East City and it was as if my player was tripping over, the footstep sound was stuttering there was a delay between pressing "w" and walking forward or moving the mouse and turning etc.

Or again, it just could be my computer
Specs:
Intel E2160 @ 1.8ghz
Nvidia 8600gt @ 256mb
2gb RAM
Win XP 32bit

Settings: 1680x1050, just about everything on high except maybe lighting and shadows
Will drop the settings tonight and report back if needed

Dragonfly lags terribly in the city, Beirut to a lesser extent (in the city/east side of the mod), Yet to see it on pre-0.9 maps.

It isn't really due to crappy hardware, although better hardware decreases the effects. I have a phenom II 3.0 ghz quad core and an 8800 GT and it laged on every map so far. I can play Crysis on high with better FPS. The answer is not "buy a new card". This is quite obviously a serious bug that will be fixed in due time.

P.S. BTW, 0.9 is awesome besides this bug

iirc bf2 dont support quad core so only one core is used, its supports dual core tho

No, the answer isnt upgrading......we will sort it out dont worry....

The best thing you can do is report maps where you have any lag\ctd issues along with your pc specs and graphics settings....

I made an organized thread so that we can get some statistics to fix this bug sooner:

Im playing on the lowest settings.
