This thread is about having issues with Widescreen Fixer application in 0.9, when it worked fine for 0.87.

More proof of the FOV difference below.

Sorry I have to check that first. But I won´t be home for 2 weeks. I know that I checked several settings though and none of them seemed to work right so I went with the one that did best.

I will update you on this.

Snazz wrote:This thread isn't about what's good enough for people who've never even used Widescreen Fixer.

It's about the application crashing 0.9 when it worked fine for 0.87, that is an issue for those of us who appreciate using it.

Since I've had to reinstall 0.87 just for prove that there's a difference, here's another example:

Snazz, thanks for taking the time to prove that we aren't crazy. Hopefully, your screens will prove the point.

Anyways, for me, the Widescreen Fixer doesn't crash the game. It just simply doesn't have any effect when I try to enable it.

Ah right, I'll revise my statement.

Point taken. Thanks Stiff and Snazz for posting those pics I never realised this was happening.

Sorry to the OP, I never thought you were crazy, but your post said there was stretching which is kind of true in a way, but it's actually clipping that occurs to get the widescreen screen resolution (stretching is horrid and distorts the aspect). I want to use the widescreen fixer now too and it's broken...nooooooo!

I can understand the confusion about the matter because the original screen cropping problem was resolved by update 1.5, but the FOV is still further increased by Widescreen Fixer.

Noe I am confused again. If the 1.5patch fixed the cropping then the FOV was ok after that? If it was still further increased then isn't it stretched from that?

Yes. Just not as good as it could be.

If it was increased too far it would look weird but as you can tell from my screen-shots it's fine.

I'm wondering if this should be moved to the Bug section. Granted, it's about the use of a third party program, but at the same time, some specific change from .87 to .9 caused it to stop working.

If it works, what OS are you using? Which version of WF are you using? (etc...) These answers could possibly offer us some insight.

Now here is some info for you.

When vBF2 patch 1.5 came out. DICE also release a hotfix for alt+tabbing issues about 2 days latter. I Shall call this "vBF2 Patch 1.51a alt+tab fix" as I don't know of any name for it. Now this hot fix is not needed by everybody. Some users did not need it at all. And so it was not pushed as a patch that you "Must" have.

Now It is my understanding that in the latest PR release "PR 0.909" the hotfix was added into PR installers. This means that even if you did not need the "vBF2 Patch 1.51a alt+tab fix", you got it anyway. And this little patch maybe the key to "Wide-screen fixer" not working any more. It's not needed as far as DICE is concerned.

That might have something to do with it. But even before .9, I had applied the "1.51a alt tab hotfix" patch, and it still worked fine. Hmmm...

OK, I disabled all UAC (User Account Control) in Windows 7, rebooted, and used Widescreen Fixer 1.62, and everything worked. I experienced a crash on a map load, but it could be entire unrelated. Seems like UAC could be the culprit though.

I upgraded my Widescreen Fixer to the beta version and now it seems to be working ok generally.

However every time I enter a Chinook on Operation Archer when it's enabled PR crashes to desktop. Doesn't seem to occur on Silent Eagle though.

I emailed the creator of it about the problem, he said he has to reinstall BF2 and PR first to check it out himself.

Running 1.60 WSF, Windows XP, BF2 Alt-Tab fix applied when released, and WSF works with 0.9. Nothing changed from 0.87 install.

It mucks up the IS on the 50's, seems to be more so than 0.87.

Haven't entered a Chinook on Archer, I believe Silent Eagle was fine.

That Widescreenfixer works for me too. It tweaked the FOV clearly. The only problem i have seen is that there are emerging varied FOV's by using a scope or binocular.
Is it possible to fix that problem? It really irritates my aiming in game.
