I did... but the area was too small and stupid me didnt think to return to base or ask them to move...
I thought I can land the heli there (Which I can) and I did! but my tail hit a supply crate which I could move 1 more meter to avoid so I crashed!
hellstorm91 wrote:grid references of the squads/troopers location would be usfull because some of the maps are pretty big and in some maps there arent an awful lot of LZ's becaus of hills and trees
they gave me grids and I found them.... they even put smoke...
and I landed but my tail hit a supply crate.

i've been flying it a lot without problems. i just look at the ground before i decent and see a virtual fit.
sometimes i use Ctrl to check through the side window how close i am to the ground, but not often.

what bugs me is that i drifts backwards when hovering or standing still on the ground, but i'll live with that.

Sometimes you need to land in a very tight place and I think you need more vision just for safety... as the chinook is an expensive asset worth so much tickets!
imagine that both helis are down how hard it will be for your team to move!

Due to the size of the beast, I actually find it easier to land on non-even ground more than other birds but you almost have to treat it like hovering and cannot take your hands off the controls.... The role on the ground is the most annoying, especially when waiting back at base for orders - almost better to get out and wait, but then you risk loosing it to another player.

As hiberNative said, you need to pick a spot as you approach and if there isn't one, don't land.... If you are picking up troops, make them come to you - it's how it would work in real life..

I know... but it is hard to hover the beast and if you will type "Guys, I cant land here... I need you to move to a bigger place" you will be already spawning lol
