Well Gaffer, yes you can, just by turning Mumble's main volume up. But then again, you'd go deaf if someone is whispering 20m away, haha!
in 90% of combat in PR, you will not type unless its less than 3 words, otherwise you'll get ganked.also you can do the above by just typing it
Also incorrect imo.Really the difference is.... the realism of it. Together is more real and more fun!!
This is what one of the devs (dbzao) says about mumble.[R-CON]Rudd wrote:

Mumble IS NOT about realistic sound, its about realistic communication and tactics.
IRL, each soldier has a radio, he can talk to other units etc with the appropriate frequencies etc.
ingame, you can only talk to commander and your squad with VOIP, with Mumble you can talk to anyone, huzzah, thats great.
However, now the enemy can hear you
what happens?
No1 speaks in combat for fear of tipping off the enemy.
people teabag like its going to go out of style
realism is degraded

Its not here to replace ingame voip OMG. Its here so you can talk to the other squads and it adds another layer of comms. You still need to use ingame voip or you will fail HARD!clueless_noob wrote:Mumble is way too complicated to set up and connect, requires several key bindings, is a program that needs to be started separately, is yet another program that needs to be run as an administrator and still fails to replace ingame voip.

Mumble + VOIP = win
cannot wait for the next version of mumble if its going to incorporate some of the 1.2 vanilla mumble features
i would be so happy if you guys did thisHimalde wrote:+1
BTW RT is discussing yet again if we shall have one or two channel system, atm it looks like the two channel system is ahead this time, but we are still discussing.
Hard to set up? I used 2 minutes to get the key binding 2 key bindings by the way i have no more need then that, I usually go on mumble first find the server with most mumblers and join or wait in line to get in hardly any work at all.clueless_noob wrote:Mumble is way too complicated to set up and connect, requires several key bindings, is a program that needs to be started separately, is yet another program that needs to be run as an administrator and still fails to replace ingame voip.
Doing it wrong. its not meant to replace ingame voip.clueless_noob wrote:Mumble is way too complicated to set up and connect, requires several key bindings, is a program that needs to be started separately, is yet another program that needs to be run as an administrator and still fails to replace ingame voip.
it was the only reason i never played on your serverHimalde wrote: BTW RT is discussing yet again if we shall have one or two channel system, atm it looks like the two channel system is ahead this time, but we are still discussing.
if it has the capability of improving teamwork massively and involves very little effort (hopefully in future, even less effort) they why not?Teufel Eldritch wrote:. I do not wish to see Mumble become a mandatory dl to play PR.
