Do it twice a year. This could be a powerful recruiting tool....

I agree its a great idea but its alot of work.
You can use it as recruiting, advertisement, revenue.
And you can make it downloadable as a pdf and produce it to subscribers you just have to have a manufacturer and a provider in each country and it can get mailed out. Chuck it in some game stores. Again shouldn't be big or expensive just lots of free interesting stuff great pics and many pages about stories from the front.

Well I would be up for it writing reports on clanwars and creating other articles.

BTW in which format would the magazine come. Printed would be ridiculous. How about PDF?

You need to set the leadership of this before you get going.

You're going to need to have people who know how to use programs like illustrator to develop the pages and people with PS knowledge to actually make headers and whatnot. On top of this you'll need someone to proof read it and an editor who can run it past the devs (or the PR management team) to make sure that you're not sending out the wrong message. Someone to manage the actual pages will be needed as well as it can't just be a dogs breakfast.

If you want to do this unofficially first thing you'll want to do is get a recruitment/discussion thread for suggestions and whatnot, to avoid cluttering the forums just get a free one up on one of those free forum websites.

I suggest those who are interested in the project get on vent or something and start brainstorming some ideas. Don't just wait for someone to step up otherwise all of this discussion will be worth nothing.

And I thought a magazine for a mod would have to be free anyway, because asking money for something that u wrote about something that is free and required a lot more time than your writing doesnt seem fair.

And I think in the age of the Internet it should not be that hard to create a good looking Magazine and in case photoshop skills are needed one could always ask u dtacs right?

as for the magazine idea, sounds cool but again gonna be lots of work. maybe twice a year. both will have stories from the front, in game screenshots, video links, etc. once in January or February to showcase upcoming works along with upcoming events. and one in October or November to talk about the advances made this past year, the events and results of said events being the main feature. a definite must would be a BUGS ALERT section where the page backgrounds are screenies of hilarious bugs with stories of the bug happenings in the text.

I'm not as good as other people on the forums.

It would have to be free, and I suggest it being bi-annual (2 per year) or bi-monthly. And there is no way that it would be payed for, would be a 100% free download pdf file. There isn't a release of PR often so it couldn't be monthly really as there isn't enough content to put in.

The only regular columns that could be put in (that I can think of) are

• Tales from the front
• Server review
• Guides on how to play with a kit or squad lead etc.
• Dev interview (psychicks ones could be put in perhaps?)
• Screenshot
• Model/WIP asset updates

Then there are actual articles which could be stuff like the changing face of how PR is played from rushing to just noobs running around to coordinated assaults, a PR timeline or whatever and major changes (from past to present) the list goes on really, all depends on peoples creativity and writing ability.

Its an alright idea, but it is reinventing the wheel (forums) somewhat.

Yeah of course a lot of this stuff can bve found in the forums, but the Magazine could do two things with it:
1. summarize: there are 1 billion threats on how people liked the changes in 0.9 and till now there is no place where critic and praise are combined

2. most fourm posting is done by just typing the stuff that comes into peoples minds at the time and when someone takes the time to wrap all of it up he can reflectr on the issue much better.

On top of that the magazin could do stuff the forums dont deliver yet like game reports on clanwars and interviews With DEVs CONs and Clanleaders

If you would like to see one, why not start an unofficial PR Magazine in PDF format? People can read it on their computers, or print it if they want. Though any news in there is "old", as it's most probably been posted on the forums somewhere . Unless you can get exclusives.

I wasnt even thinking about official and unofficial but again im not the person who had the idea to begin with.

And of course u are right when u say that u wouldnt have "new news", but a magazine doesnt deliver news to begin with, thats what a newspaper does. On top of that if u would have reports on clanwars, interviews and stuff from external sources u would actually gain stuff that is not on the forums.
And as always the aim is not only Information but also entertainment.

I think the only way to show u what I mean by now is actually doing it and showing u

We need to make this idea reality, first we need more people that is willing to get this project going.

We also need support of the PR team to get excluive infomation and what the team is working on.

if we had enough people willing to contribute, and someone with editing software, it's possible a volunteer quarterly magazine could be put out, some of you have put forward some great idea's.

but you could also include General PR non-PR specific content:
*message from the DEV's
* editors page or editorial content ie: letters to the editor
* honours roll for giving back to those that have given so much
*a tactical decision game ( similar to a military role play)
*player or DEV interviews
*actual military history
*clan in focus. A interveiw with a clan.
*Esports reports.
*RL kit and accessories review EGEAR. (reviews of things like keybords, moniters other *hard ware ect as well as software) and TGEAR (tactical training and technical gear, *pretty much covers anything from shoes to tools and anything in between.
*Com fac updates section
*faction special review section
*PR art work
*real world defence news and technology section

I guess there are heaps of article we can include but if we have a guaranteed set of articles that have designated writers and cooperation with the development team what I would call PROMag (my take on Project Reality Official Magazine) I am sure a dedicated reader base would follow, if we show we are capable of producing a quality product we could even get paid advertising which could go toward the donations of PR which would mean we would have more to write about and hence a better product which then means more revenue.

So yeah I am for a mag that focus's on PR and I am willing to write a article or two, as I have no real modding or tech skills this way I could contribute.

i have some content ready to go now if needed i can rewrite it for general exibition

Ditto have already send a PM to PlasmaSoldier with a list of articles that I could start working on and I think the main issue we are gonna face now is making the content we can produce pleasent to look at. Im just trying to put together a frontpage and well ... I suck at it.
