Two is probably a bit better but also more complicated and would be a turn of for the newcomers.

Btw, L4gi keep me updated on that new community, my clan should be able to help with seeding and so on.

Two. Makes Mumble more effective in combat, and improves teamwork that way. I don't think any real soldiers would communicate in such a manner that the enemy could hear them. At least not like it becomes with Mumble.

Part of the reason I thought mumble was unique and enjoyable was the fact you CAN hear the enemies in proximity, and they can hear you, making stealth and selective silence that much more important, with a little role-play thrown in to boot, But whatever.

I voted for 1.
To be honest I haven't heard it in a while either cause I have only been playing on 2 channel servers lately. But when I did play on single channel servers, which was mumble first started so it may have changed, that was one thing that stood out to me.

I haven't played too much with Mumble, but the idea of 1 is more appealing to me. Being stealthy/eavesdropping on the opposition should be part of the game, I think. I agree that you need to balance that against some of the stupid stuff that 1 channel might promote.

Also, for someone starting out on Mumble and unsure of it, one channel is less of a hassle for getting onto the right server and figuring out which channel to be on.

If you are making a mumble server L4gi for the love of god make sure it's 2 channel. So many retarded tactics and hampering of gameplay has been proven to arise when there's only 1 channel, and far fewer people bother to use it aside from a pass into the server.

At present mumble is still very very very much a beta and it's (social cuasing) flaws are most obvious when people can communicate with the other team, hear through 50 meters of concrete/into an APC, "ghost" with a physical presence, or basically turn some squads away from actually cooperating and doing their own little thing with the enemy. Like Procrastination and Masturbation, it can be fun at first, but in the end you realize you've screwed yourself.

Woops I voted for the wrong thing.
I was ment to vote 2 channels because it prevents people from trash talking with each other.

The problem with one channel I find is that whenever you get close to the enemy then everyone switches to VOIP which then makes mumble pointless. I think that is the biggest reason why people want two channels other than the taunting.

If they taunt you, tell them how 1337 they are, and they usually stop and turn nice. If you go mental they will continue and laugh even harder.

On channel is good, but I prefer 2 channels.

A third option? Get drunk, sexually harass teammates? ;)

On topic: 2 channels, unless the whole PR community starts learning Chinese/Russian/Arabic/English.

I much prefer 2 channels because of taunting and distracting getting in the way of the game. Even I couldn't resist jiving whilst t-bagging some Finnish n00b sniper on Iron Ridge this one time. O hai L4gi, good luck with the server.

I prefer 1 as it's more realistic, but two solves a lot of the problems with immaturity players seem to develop when using mumble.

So.. I suppose I prefer 2, despite saying 1.

2 by a far amount.
I've had experiences with one channel where some friendly says "Enemy at 60" and an enemy said "Where?" and proceeded to turn that direction.

I guess I see your points. Now that I think about it, I usually go to 1 channel mumble servers just to listen and laugh at the antics of others, and for a little change of pace to the game. I can imagine if I played on such a caotic server evey single day, I would go a little nuts.

Although I always enjoy vocally taunting Blufor as a collaborator during insurgency rounds... :D

One channel, makes it easier to deal with downed pilots and general fun. I personally have never seen anyone using the shout tactics or insults.

OH wait a second you mean two separate channels for each team? Nah, one tends to make it easier so long as noone globals.

And if they do they get quickly told to shut it :P

Hearing people through buildings and mountains, regardless of the volume they're speaking in, is not ever realistic. 1 channel is not realistic, the only thing it does is dissuade the use of mumble for anything other than taunting and talking when far from the front or to SLs(Which TS would do just as well). 2 channels allow people to actually use mumble.

I'm sorry I wasn't aware I opened the abuse valve Tartantyco. LAgi asked for my opinion and I posted it, it's not then grounds for you to tell me otherwise.
