I am having a similar problem. I tried to run the bf2voicesetup.exe from the BF2 folder and it would not react to my voice. If you click save, it generates an error message:

BF2VoiceSetup.exe has stopped working.

Windows reacts to my voice as the microphone levels move when i speak under sound properties. In Steam the VOIP works just fine. The rest of BF2 works great. If only I could get the VOIP taken care of

This is a brand new system for me and here are my stats:

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X3
MB: MSI 870A-G54
RAM: 4GB
GC: MSI Nvidia GTS-250 512MB
Non-USB headphones w/mic
I am using the onboard Audio which is a Realtek ALC892

Bump :(

Sorry, but i am also having this problem, i am using win7 and have different specs, but it's still the same problem (i cant enable voip), i have tried the tricks you guys posted but it seems that the main problem i have is that i do not have a mic plugged in and therefore do not have access to the tabs and such that you have said to go to. I recently built a new computer and when i played PR on it the voip was working fine (meaning i could hear others, though i don"t have a mic) without any tweaking to the settings or anything else, so it is obviously a problem that has to do with the computer itself. Another detail is that on both computers I never went through the mic setup that pops up after installation, I simply clicked the cancel button.

do you have user account control (UAC) enabled?? this sets all profiles (even admin ones) as administrated users and sets program folders to read only, make sure that you either run PR as an administrator or have UAC turned off to allow to alteration of settings.

I actually did happen to see your similar post earlier in the thread, and I was pretty sure that disabling UAC wouldn't make a difference, but since I'm bored i thought I would give it a shot, but it seems I new what I was talking about (or rather thinking), the tabs still do not show up, so as I mentioned above, I'm thinking that in order to get those tabs you have to have a mic plugged in since the people who mentioned the tabs both had mics. Anyone got any other ideas for people without mics?

Yes because I have tested it with other players, they asked if I could hear them on the in game voip and I couldn't, plus numerous times I have seen people mention that they are using in game voip on the text chat, but i can't hear them talking.
