How is a belt feed on a weapon impossible? Its been done on many weapons before. Unless you are on about clipping belts together or something like that.

BARs were pretty uncommon by the time VN rolled around, even less common than M14A1 I would imagine. (BAR was never successfully re-chambered to 7.62 NATO so while there were some kicking around, they didn't form a major part of the equipment)

I guess the main question is; are kits going to be fixed to a set TO&E representing a fixed period in the war, across all maps, or will we see an FH-2 like system where kit availability is per-map based on the time period the map represents?

Obviously that's mainly a question for the long term, I imagine the first release will focus on one set of assets for obvious reasons.

It will be in game, but it will not be as frequent as 1 per squad.
Sooooo...a platoon made of a minimum of 2 squads had 2x M60? So surely that would be 1 xM60 per squad, like an auto rifleman right? :D

Think of the whole team in PR as a platoon, thus the M60 would be a specialist kit.

Or, think of two squads as a platoon and that there are other roles on the PR battlefield that need to be taken into account, when addressing manpower. Transport, logistics, command, armour and air support, recon.
On some maps, a team can only afford to field 2 infantry squads at a time, e.g maps such as Kashan Desert.

If you play an entire team as a single platoon in PR, in most cases, you will be making heavy sacrifices to your defensive or offensive capabilities; so that is why I personally see a platoon as two squads, not 3-9.

With two squads representing an infantry platoon, you'd still be fine having the GPMG (possibly the M240 once the model is complete for regular PR) as a specialist kit (one for each squad in that case).
Otherwise you could have a maximum of nine (more if you add stolen kits) on each team, which is clearly too much. Imagine the SRAW becoming an unlimited kit because the Javelin and SMAW teams which it represents are usually attached to a platoon in the USMC.
