I've played in good sniper duo once. The other one as a spotter (My SL) and me as a sniper in Al Basrah INS. His mission was to get some information on enemy movements on the city northern district. I was hanging along just in case and shot down one enemy sniper and two RPG-teams. We did'nt have even VOIP but it was working.

welll i have the same experience .... snipers just go on their way usually with out a spotter... so they are just lone wolfs..... and they dont provide intels either ( I've seen it a FEW times but it was't that great either :S )
i think we should have to do something w/ snipers... cuz this is definetly no working

sniper in pr are generally not teamplayers, but it doesn't matter if you fight them. they could really be a pain in the butt when facing them..i had whole a squad suppressed by a single sniper..

about 10 mins ago i was on lashkar with my flatmate, 2 man sniper squad (later 3 man). we were up in the big sanger (the one with 2 SAWs), taking out hadji sappers trying to lay mines and other devious devices on the road. succesful as hell. took out a couple of hadjis across the river too. we really didn't leave main the whole time haha.
muttrah is good for sniper work too. a lot of the time i do provide info on movement of troops, apcs, etc etc. sometimes i just like to shoot for the hell of it haha

I would say, Snipers can be usefull. If used correctly. Thing is, in PR we have the problem of the general view of Snipers, IE people join squads, no voip grab kit and leave. Then go lonewolfing.
And the good snipers who actually have skill, then get judged because people belive that is what all snipers do.
If you guys want people to ensure people use the sniper kit correctly and we have no more of those "snipers dont use teamwork" then get out there, use spotters, DO IT! Take the kit, if you want to go sniper and show people how to use it, then dont flame in threads on the forum. Show me you can help the team.

Even when I have had to lone wolf it because I didn't have a spotter (or the SL i was with was a Sniper hater) I have had success and have supported all the squads on the map. Only none of you will ever know how many tango's the Snipers have taken out that were hot footing it to your position.
A sniper put in a good spot can effectively shut down an entire area to troop movement, as well as covering a wider surrounding area taking out targets of opportunity.
I don't know how you would think that is useless, or not in support of a squad.
I have not been able to play in PR9 yet, but it sounds like the Sniper has some ability to spot things for the commander now also. This makes them even more valuable being able to hide in the middle of the fight (if you play with the Sniper mentality) and tell the team where the other is moving.
I don't think it's ignorant considering that everyone knows what snipers should be doing and people generally know what to do with the kit, it's more of a part of the game which does not mesh well, technically snipers should be useful, but they rarely are, I understand that a sniper can hold down a squad (or more), hence why they are considered a force multiplier, but this rarely causes problems in squads that I have been in, if your squad is switched on, at the first sign of a sniper, pop smoke, find some cover and get the wounded up, find alternative route, three minutes wasted. Considering how slow PR has become, this rarely causes many issues, from my personal experience.
I was on a server today, a six man infantry squad had three snipers, a marksman, an officer and an AR, it made me sigh

That!
Please think twice before flaming any sniper you see. I always play with a spotter, often going with my clanmates to recon a specific area or cover a section of the map. I rarely get caught or killed, and when I know I'm gonna get pwned soon, I hide my kit somewhere so the enemy doesn't get it. Whenever there's a commander or mumble present I pass on all the intel I can, mark for CAS, area attacks or just mark shit with my radio.
So please don't think every sniper is a 11 year old COD fanatic. Unfortunately most of them are, but don't be stereotypical.

That too!
I was playing on fallujah as an insurgent the other day and me any my squad held the two towers area. I killed a USMC sniper and later destroyed a full squad with it.
First when I spotted the squad I waited for them to go into an area where there isn't a lot of cover. They were sprinting over open terrain. I first took out the officer who was on point. Then a grenadier who was falling back. Then I let the medic revive him, just so I can kill him again and pronounce him dead. Then I took out the medic and waited for one of his mates to come pick his kit up. I didn't shoot and I let them believe they were safe, he took his kit, boom - dead. The two other guys started sprinting back to cover, I got one running and the other one went behind the building. He peeked to see me, fatal mistake, boom - whole squad dead.

Obligatory comment about spotters being worthless.

The suck of it is if you don't find any Non-SniperHater squads and you don't know anyone who would be good to team up with for a Sniper squad YOU ARE FORCED TO SNIPE THE SNIPER KIT by joining a squad, get the kit, and then take off if they don't like you.
/QUOTE]
i don't mind snipers working in my squad as long as they have a mic to give intel and dont go uber 1337 lone wolf. and i cant stand the people that join my squad just to get a sniper kit and then leave my squad. if you ever played with me you know i go and hunt them down and kill them and have someone in my squad get there sniper kit to keep them from geting it.
but a sniper that works with is team is so useful but that locked 2 man sniper squad..
APC road kill. "ops i did not see you" back up to run over spoter
