Tbh i've never had any experience of using a joystick, so apologies for the generalisation. Simply enough I have found that general flying is a lot smoother and easier with a mouse than keyboard only (bear in mind that i've only recently changed my mind on this). Whilst I think getting a "perfect" hover is slightly easier with keyboard only you do not need to get a perfect hover everytime you are dropping troops off and as I said flying in general feels smoother and more controlled with the mouse.

Yes the keyboard is more responsive, but that imo is not necessarily a good thing. You end up overcompensating and that leads to a crashed heli.

Use mouse and keyboard for a lot more precise control. Simply kill as much speed as you can, tilt your nose up a little to lose even more and stop moving forward, then it is just a question of watching your altitude and trying to keep it in the same place.

If you want to get good at flying choppers or jets, practice with a joystick. It may be hard to grasp at first if your not use to using them (even if you are for jets requires a bit of relearning) but once you have got your head around it it you have so much more control at your finger tips that its really worth it in the long run :)

Also if you aint got a joystick and looking to get one, make sure you get one with a throttle, not that important for jets (although certainly easier and helps loads with landing) but for choppers it gives you a lot more control with power etc :)

hmm i never thought that other people could have problems with flying in PR.
i dont know what you mean with "how do i hover", i mean, fly very low, jsut some feet over the ground (so you can watch your movement) and then slow down to 0 and try to hold the horizon mark (how is it called?) of your hud parallel to the ..... how do i call it.. crosshair (?), in some choppers (i think the Mil) the horizon has to be below the crosshair... i think.... never thought about it, i just have the feeling for it.

Easiest thing is just trimming your speed with S and W on the keyboard, and tilting the nose up slightly by moving the mouse when coming in from speed (watch any real helicopters slowing to hover on outube and you'll get the idea)
